Right now, SC has around 7 commits and not a single 5-star (granted, 4 of them are 4 stars). Not even CEO can out-recruit this current situation. I would not be surprised to see a lot of hesitancy to commit to SC until after the season is over and Kiff is fired in the second week of December. But by then, much of the battle is over and many of the best players are off the table. SC can recruit around 20 guys this year, so hopefully they can come away with a pretty full cupboard unlike season past with 15 or so kids.

Lane had to be canned sooner rather than later. Gives the school a good excuse to have a bad season (they were having one anyway) and allows CEO to put together a good recruiting plan for the February deadline. Waiting until after bowl season would have been cutting it too close.

If they can lure Chris Peterson away it won't be until after the season. Any active coach for that reason. But having the stench of kiffin gone can only help recruiting.

I thought Kiffin was supposed to be some kind of great recruiter. Are you just referring to Kiffin's results on the field, or was he having difficulty recruiting, too?
