For the record: I am not expecting to be terribly happy with the outcome of the Utah-TCU game. I think we'll lose, but won't be blown out. On paper, it looks like we should struggle offensively against the Frogs. I do not think they will score more than two touchdowns, so I don't think it will be a beat-down by either team.
But then again, records can be deceiving, especially at mid-season. I never expected Utah to put a beat-down on BYU last season. No one has put one on Utah in 30 games (since the 27-0 debacle at UNLV), and KW's teams generally do not get blown out. (This cannot be said about the Provo-based program.)

For the record, I believe the Utes will win. See my freaky predictions. I've already got one of them right, which aint bad as far as freaky predictions go.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostFor the record: I am not expecting to be terribly happy with the outcome of the Utah-TCU game. Funny...you just substituted "dominated" too. Did I see they "dominated" them or outplayed them? Right.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostWho thought Utah dominated TCU in 08? You jump from one end of the spectrum to the other.
To say that all but 1 of TCU's starters dominated Utah last year is hilarious. If that were true, the game would not have come down to a missed field goal or two, would it?
Here's why I can substitute "dominated". In SU's mind, Utah's on a different level than the rest of the league. The level where a 10-win season is beneath Utah. The level where a 1-loss Utah team with a few ugly wins can expect to go beat an undefeated TCU team that is killing people. The only way I can reconcile SU's expectation of a win, given that this Utah team is missing its all-conference QB and is headed to Dallas with a true freshman with all of 1 game of experience against a bad opponent under his belt, is to assume that he feels Utah dominated TCU last year. It's the only way the math works. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Clearly we have advanced beyond 10-2 & Backwater Bowl BYU-style being a wholly successful season a la BYU. Many of us said the Utes were capable of this given population base, resources, etc. During the 1960's -1980's Utah had as bad a string of terrible coaching hires as you'll find anywhere.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostFunny...you just substituted "dominated" too. I love how all of the comparisons in this thread made by Ute fans have to do with BYU.*Banned*

This is because BYU fans are all coming forth and saying utah will get creamed based on their own parochial experiences. This is typical of the BYU fanbase, by the way.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostTeams Utah has held under 2 tds: Wyoming.

LOL! Utah has 7 wins. In every win the opponent has scored 2 TDs or less, with total opponent scores of 17, 14, 14, 17, 15, 16, 10. You, however, do get points for singling out Wyoming as the only team who didn't score 2 TDs on the Utes and trying to make that into smack. Really, junkie, you've outdone yourself, even for a miserable (but loveable) vomitous mass.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostTeams Utah has held under 2 tds: Wyoming.
The whole thread started with SU's post saying, "Whit is not content to settle for 10-2 and an invite to Backwater Bowl vs. Bo Diddly Tech BYU-style." We Ute fans can't help it if you BYU fans couldn't resist chomping so hard on the hook.I love how all of the comparisons in this thread made by Ute fans have to do with BYU.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”
