Sounds like IT will start and Jimmer will still be the 5th guard still as they move Ray McCallum into IT's back up spot.

I just don't get it. Gay is the last kind of player they need. He's not a great defender. He's a volume shooter and inefficient scorer. With IT in the starting lineup with Gay, Cousins may never touch the ball. The worst part of this is they sent expiring contracts for Gay. Gay has an ETO but no way he opts out of the almost $19M he's due next season. So now the Kings will have $70m committed to 9 players next year and will need to shed money to re-sign IT who is a restricted FA. I am certain that there are a number of posters here that could do a better job as a GM of that team than the Kings have done.

I hope they free Jimmer soon.
Don't forget the addition of Derrick Williams who is a Gay clone. Williams has been chucking 13 times a game since joining the Kings. They still have Thornton another chucker, and McLemore. Where do you find shots for all of these guys?

And who is playing the 4 now? Is the Derrick Williams at the 3 experiment already over? That lasted a week. Or do they really think that Gay can play a stretch 4 as some tweets have indicated?

They will start Williams and Gay at the 3 and the 4.

Who will rebound besides Cousins? Vasquez was having a terrible year, but he was a big guard that rebounded well. IT is not and you need bigs to hide his deficiencies on the defensive end. The Kings no longer have that.

Or maybe Williams goes to the bench and they start Thompson again.

Either way this is a team full of volume shooters that can't shoot.

You have one if the leagues top big men why not surround him with actual shooters? Instead you give him shoot first pg, a slasher with questionable range, rudy effing gay, an undersized 4 that can't stretch a defense.

Off the bench you have a streak shooter in Thornton that over dribbles and dominates the ball, and Jason Thompson a 4 that can't post up, has no back to the basket game and settles for 18 foot jump shots.

They are poorly constructed and they keep getting worse.

I appreciate your proper capitalization there.

            • Upon hearing he was traded to Sacramento, Rudy Gay asked for a refund on the Raptor vs Lakers tickets he had purchased for his entourage. Stating they will no longer be attending the game.

It is a lesson for anyone who quotes the late Rick Majerus saying "I'm not a big Gay guy."

                • Lost in the mess that is the Nets season so far is the play of Brook Lopez. He's averaging 20 ppg, is 2nd in the league in PER, averages 2.2 bpg, and actually holds his opponents to a lower FG% at the rim than Roy Hibbert. He's also getting 7 FTA/gm (and makes 82% of them) even though he only plays 30 mpg.

So Kidd has the best big man in the league and he still can't win. I can't imagine Kidd could be worse than Corbin at this point, but he can't be much better.

                      Lavins reaction is the best.

                        • Lionel Hollins took a relatively mediocre roster to 56-26 record last season and an appearance in the conference finals - probably one of the best, if not the best coaching job in the NBA last year. Memphis fired him and they are now sitting at 10-13.

They were 7-4 before Gasol went down, and those first 11 games included roadies against Indy, GS (when Iggy was playing), LAC, and Dallas. That's why I feel good that GS is still in the 9th spot, because there is at least 1 team behind them that is going to make a big push to jump them once Gasol gets back. So that gives some extra leeway to have GS miss the playoffs even if Phoenix falls off. They could also get some major competition for a low seed from NO once Davis is back and who knows what the Lakers do with Kobe.

Phoenix looked like a tanker to begin the season but reportedly ready to play to win now. They're currently in the 6th seed and apparently willing to move '14 pick to snag an impact player. I'd love to see that. Then you have Minny, LA, NO and Memphis all within two games of GS right now. GS can't afford to lose many more games to injury (and they almost most certainly will given that fragile unit) or they're going to have a real fight on their hands for that 8 spot. Sure would be nice to see them miss the playoffs.

Phoenix is in a great spot. Enough cap space to sign a max player even after retaining Bledsoe on a new deal. Good young coach in place. And in the deep 2014 draft they'll have at the very least their own and the Pacers' pick, but could also have one from the Wizards that would be just outside the lottery. And they are owed a protected first from Minny and the 2015 Lakers pick to toss into any deal. Seems they could get a solid player in return with Okafor's expiring and their own pick. But I wonder if they could make a deal with a team that liked Len before the draft, and trade Len and their 2014 pick for another team's young player on a small contract that would fit the Suns plans better. Then they still have max cap space in the summer.
