    • So is the protection on GS pick next year pre or post lottery? If the lotterypicks them as top 3, do they then get the pick?

Picks are done pre-lottery. If the Warriors finish outside of the top 7 next year, then the pick goes to the Jazz. If the ping-poing balls bounce our way and we move into the top 3, still our pick.

I don't think that's right. I always thought that if the Warriors finish 8th worst, then win the lottery, they keep the pick. I'm pretty sure that's been the case in the past.

That is how I understood it as well. The Warriors will show up and do the lottery no matter where they are picking, and then depending on how it shakes out will depend on whether or not they have to send the pick to Utah.

Yeah, you might be right. I was thinking back to last year when we were at the lottery instead of NY -- but then last night after making that post I remembered the pick was completely unprotected.

Yeah, remember the year LeBron was drafted, Detroit held Memphis' pick which was No.1 protected. When it landed at No.2, it went to Detroit. If it had landed at No. 1, LeBron would have screwed the Grizz last summer, not the Cavs. (Actually, LeBron would have been playing with Pau, which means he'd probably still be there and Pau probably wouldn't be a Laker. But I'll stop the dominoes there).

                  • Favors and Hayward make NBA.com's rookie top 10.

After Sunday's loss in Sacramento, Al Jefferson called his rookie teammate "special". "He don't know how good he can be in this league," Jefferson told the Deseret News. "It's going to be scary. He's going to be real good." That special talent was on display Tuesday night, as Hayward took over in L.A., leading the Jazz to an 86-85 win over the Lakers. Hayward had 22 points, six rebounds and five pretty assists. He also scored the winning free throw with six seconds left and guarded Kobe Bryant, who had the ball slip out of his hands before he could get a shot off. It was the second straight night in which Hayward set a career-high in scoring (he had 19 in Sacramento) and it was easy to see why the Jazz took him at No. 9. (If you get a chance, check out Jody Genessey's feature on Hayward. Good read.)
Hayward is getting the bigger pub (partly thanks to Butler's NCAA tournament run), but Favors is quietly having a nice finish to his rookie season. In the last four games, Favors has two double-doubles and is averaging 8.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. With other rookies slipping off the Ladder, Favors finally gets his due, after an impressive 14-point, 11-rebound performance in the Jazz's 86-84 win in L.A. Hayward will get most of the attention for his career night, but Favors was crucial to the Jazz victory. Jazz faithful may be hurting from the D-Will/Jerry Sloan departures, but if the 19-year-old Favors (20 in July!) continues to develop, things will turn around in Utah.

                    • From Locke, on a /minute basis Millsap is averaging 3 more pts than he did early in his career but 3 fewer rebounds.

Might as well make him into a SF if he's going to play like one.

Wow, the Jazz have two rookies in the top 10? Pretty impressive since they've got the 3rd and 9th pick on their roster... At least Hayward is currently living up to his lofty draft spot.

Do you not have TNT? Or were you just so excited to hear Bolerjack?

                              • Satellite is not working here with a snowstorm going on. So no TV for me either. But I see CJ is sucking it up with a 1/7 start.
