So I misspoke in saying it was a win-win. It's actually a win-win-win.
What pressure does Deron feel right now? He got rid of Jerry he has a year and a half left on his contract the new CBA is coming out so Bird Rights may be obsolete at that point. If he leaves Utah so what the guy is a cock and will have no problem leaving the Jazz high and dry even if they do everything that he asks of them and then some.

In the summer of 2012 the Jazz will have Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap and Gordon Hayward to build their team around. The Cavs record may be in jeopardy.

    • Jerry Sloan certainly has his backers.
One prominent name is Jerry West, the former Lakers GM and one of the greats of all-time....you know, the logo.

West, interviewed today on Sportscenter, sounded off on Deron Williams, criticizing him for any potential role the Jazz point guard may have had in Sloan's sudden resignation.

"I saw the game last night, and Deron got his fanny kicked by a great player, (Derrick Rose)," West said. "And I have great respect for Deron, but to put blame on the coach? Forget it. If that's really the reason, then it's sad for everyone concerned."

Speaking of Sloan, West praised him for his years of service, his ability to field a winning team on a yearly basis, his ability to coach through the change of basketball to the modern era.

"Jerry's one of the great guys to coach," West said. "He's a stalwart for the NBA. People like him don't come along very often."

I was at Franck's Restaurant two nights ago when Deron and the gang (Millsap, CJ, and the Bulls) were in yucking it up all night. Nothing at all wrong with that but I think it has to piss off old school guys like Jerry that the new NBA is run by these players that don't seem to "hate" their opponents. (Hate is probably the wrong word).
So DWill will be looking at Chicago and LA homes in 2 years?

Presser will be at the Zions Bank Basketball center off of I-15.

I know he has a step-son that is in 9th grade. I don't think that Jerry is going anywhere. But that's just me.

At least Sloan will be around to squeeze blood out of the turnip like he did in 2003-04.

            Oh wait...

I don't necessarily think that Deron is wrong with some of his criticisms, and I don't know that this isn't the best thing for the Jazz long term. But it has the feel of a nasty situation and has left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
Honestly, I don't think a happy ending was possible for Sloan and the Jazz, because, to twist your phrase, the coach was being given more power than the institution. Sloan kept re-upping, when the graceful thing would have been to step down one or two extensions ago. It was going to end ugly no matter how it ended.

And it ended up being a fight over watching game film.

What a prick DWill is for wanting to watch film with his teammates.

Public perception will be that it was one bad loss to the Bulls in which Deron played poorly that had Deron calling for Sloan's head. In reality, Deron has been calling for Sloan's head for 3 years.

Maybe he feels no pressure. If so, that's fine. But, like you say, he got what he wanted. So if he can't back it up, he has only himself to blame. I appreciate that you are suddenly so concerned for the state of the Jazz and the welfare of Jazz fans everywhere, though. You, TripleFather, Surfah, HBCoug, and others are being very supportive in this difficult time, and that means a lot.

Except in this case, the coach WAS the institution. His system. KOC and Sloan working together to build a roster that fit the system that Sloan had in place.

Was Sloan's time past? There is a good chance. But I can't be optimistic about the way it went down.

                            • I walked over to the Delta Center and this is the scene on the ground

Not sure if those people crossing the street are media, they may be students at West HS.

Also, when I left for lunch, not sure if those cars were parked there, so I think people are starting to converge.

Then watch the fucking film with your teammates. Be the leader and organize a film session since you know more than the coach anyways and get everybody on the same page. But don't sulk about it until you tank the season and get the coach fired.
