Except in this case, the coach WAS the institution. His system. KOC and Sloan working together to build a roster that fit the system that Sloan had in place.

Was Sloan's time past? There is a good chance. But I can't be optimistic about the way it went down.

Sloan was acting as the institution, even though he really wasn't the institution. He had too much power and too much control over player personnel decisions. It was going to end ugly, because Sloan wasn't willing to bow out gracefully. It didn't have to end this way, but it was becoming apparent that Sloan wasn't going to be the one to end the gravy flow.

There is some irony, though, in Deron being the cause of Sloan's downfall, considering Sloan hand-picked him over Chris Paul.

Public perception will be that it was one bad loss to the Bulls in which Deron played poorly that had Deron calling for Sloan's head. In reality, Deron has been calling for Sloan's head for 3 years.

Granted, my reading comprehension is "shit" so I am probably not the best person to be analyzing this. But obviously something happened last night that sent Sloan over the edge.

Please you have been completely absent all season long. It has been Mark Grace, Sizzle and occasionally Livecoug. I have probably watched more Jazz games than you have this year.

Believe it or not this is a big story locally and nationally. The longest tenured coach in sports is run out of town by an overweight point guard that shoots a low percentage. It is a big story and shows the state of the Jazz right now.

I would be lying if I said i was not enjoying the meltdown but its hard being 44-8 and alone on top by 7 games. I need something to keep my interest until the postseason. The 1 seed is pretty much wrapped up so I will turn my attention to the Jazz and another first round exit for Deron.

Then watch the fucking film with your teammates. Be the leader and organize a film session since you know more than the coach anyways and get everybody on the same page. But don't sulk about it until you tank the season and get the coach fired.

And collect the coach's salary.

Lots of talk about Deron being the one with hurt feelings and sulking around. Yet we all know Jerry menstruates as much as any player he has ever coached.

Let me rephrase. Whatever happened last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. To those who don't follow the Jazz closely, it will be perceived as this came from nowhere after Deron got owned by Rose. In reality, this has been escalating for quite some time.

Just heard Jerry West's take on Sloan's resignation.

Sounds like he agrees that the Jazz need to keep Deron happy..."it's all about players."

And he needs to keep his opinion about Deron to himself until West proves he can win a title without Wilt.
