I read this, but when did Sloan start calling plays again? Deron has been mostly calling the plays for years. Maybe Sloan took back that right this year and that was part of the fight?

It was overdue, but it really sucks that it had to happen this way and, at the very least, not in the offseason.

Yeah it will be awesome to see the Sloan bashers this spring when the Jazz miss the playoffs, complaining that Sloan quit on this team mid-season.

When he was accused of rape, Jazz fans turned their back on that (no problem, so did Laker fans with Kobe).

Its nice to see all the haters out. This is really a shocking development that a player is unhappy with his coach when the team is struggling. I bet its never happened before. All is lost! All is lost!

This is a players league and the Jazz will be at least as good for the remainder of the season as they would have been under Sloan. I expect the next month to have a significantly better result than the past month.

A few years back Deron started calling plays, and a big deal was made out of it at the time because even Stockton hadn't done that. Here's a snippet from an article in 2008, that states Deron had begun doing this as early as the 2007 season.

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan makes that point over and over, continuously mentioning — whenever someone tries linking the two — that Basketball Hall of Fame-bound Stockton played 19 NBA seasons and apparent superstar-in-the-making Deron Williams is in just his third.

But there's something beyond mere longevity separating the two, and that's this: Williams loves to shout out plays on his own accord, and Sloan readily permits it; Stockton, even late in his career, didn't do that much at all, typically preferring to look back at his coach for the call.

"He's done a good job of running plays, executing for us, getting us into stuff we need to run," Sloan said of Williams, who actually started calling more and more on his own during last season's second half.

If Barkley had played with Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor, he'd have more rings than West. So I'm going with Barkley on this one.

Marc Stein says the Jazz have been trying to get Sloan to come back. So this is Jerry moving on, not being forced out.

Last night Deron ran a play that Sloan didn't want, led to blow up at halftime, discussions took place behind closed doors after the game with KOC and Sloan, and Sloan said "It is me or Deron."

So which one had his feel bads hurt?

Please you have been completely absent all season long. It has been Mark Grace, Sizzle and occasionally Livecoug. I have probably watched more Jazz games than you have this year.

Believe it or not this is a big story locally and nationally. The longest tenured coach in sports is run out of town by an overweight point guard that shoots a low percentage. It is a big story and shows the state of the Jazz right now.

I would be lying if I said i was not enjoying the meltdown but its hard being 44-8 and alone on top by 7 games. I need something to keep my interest until the postseason. The 1 seed is pretty much wrapped up so I will turn my attention to the Jazz and another first round exit for Deron.
