Start Burke at point, Smart at 2, and bring Burks off the bench. Works for me.

I really wish Trey had put up some better shooting #s last year. I think he's going to prove to be a better shooter than that, but hard to bank on it enough based on what he showed as a rook to make you feel comfortable drafting a combo guard who can't shoot. But I would say that of the five young guys on the team, Trey is probably the one I feel least confident about being a significant piece on a good team. So maybe that means, if the first four picks are Embiid/Wiggins/Parker/Exum, I'd like Smart to be the pick at 5 (though today I think I would want it to be Vonleh there).

I had a feeling his FG% would be sub 40 last year, but I'm not as worried about him getting his FG% up as I am the other marks. If he's 40% from the floor, I'm fine with that, as long as he can create value from 3pt and the line. If he can get around 37-38% from 3 on 3.5-4 attempts, which he should, I'm fine with that. For me the biggest disappointment was how inept he was at getting to the line. As a high 80s FT shooter, he could really add to his scoring efficiency if he could take 4-5 free throws a game. It's basically the Chauncey Billups efficiency model. He won't match Billups in that regard by any stretch, but needs to follow that formula.

I hope he can hit 38% from 3. That was what he shot as a sophomore from the college 3 line. I still think Kemba Walker is a solid comp for what Burke is/can be in the NBA. And Walker does attempt 4.5 FTA/gm. But he also isn't a very efficient scorer even with the the FTAs because its hard for him to finish in the lane or create good looks on the perimeter. Burke needs to get solid from behind the line and work on emulating Parker's in-between game in the lane. To me, 16-23 ft and inside 5 ft are no man's land for Trey.

              Jody Genessy @DJJazzyJody

Told Jazz assistant coach Brad Jones is on the short list for Utah's head coach opening with Alvin Gentry, Adrian Griffin and Quin Snyder.

              Jody Genessy @DJJazzyJody

From what I'm hearing, it sounds like Quin Snyder remains at the front of the pack for the Utah Jazz coaching position. Jazz like them all.

Justin Zanik has spent time in Europe since season ended. Jazz assistant GM's likely talked to Ettore Messina but don't think he's in mix.

                  Trib picking it up too.

The Utah Jazz have tabbed Atlanta Hawks assistant Quin Snyder as the team’s next head coach, The Salt Lake Tribune has confirmed.

The deal with Snyder includes a three-year guarantee, according to Yahoo! Sports.

There were a bunch of tweets this morning saying he was the front runner. Too bad they didn't go with Boylen.

They missed out big time by not going with Alex Jensen.

Let's hope this Snyder works out better for the Jazz than the last one they brought in.
