Of the four, I'm not high on Gentry at all. I'd be okay with either Snyder or Griffin, though neither are "sexy."

Isn't the only decent thing on Boylen's resume the fact that he is the head asst for Pop the year after 2 or 3 assistants left SA? Gentry was an asst with Pop, and then was an asst under Pop one other season too.

I didn't see the direct quote, just a reference to it today, but apparently Perrin said Saric could play the 5 in the NBA. He's listed at 6'10", 225 lbs. There have certainly been smaller centers to play for some successful teams if their schemes were right for it, but that seems a bit of a stretch to use that as a reason the team might consider drafting a player that only weighs 220-230 lbs. I wonder what the actual quote was.

The last I heard, Saric was being a bit of a diva saying he would only come over to the NBA this year if he got drafted by the Celtics or Lakers. Also, he takes a lot of threes. Even if he could play center, I'm not sure he's interested in the job.

Gentry did get to the WC Finals, maybe the one year he had a roster that was decent and not injured or really young. So he's a coach that can get a good roster far into the playoffs, and can't do anything above expected with a lesser roster. That's about like 90% of guys that get NBA coaching jobs. At least we wouldn't be walking the ball up the court. I'd definitely be more content with Gentry than Boylen.

What I find interesting about great coaches is how the usually have great players. Sloan was a good coach in the 90s, not so good in the 2000s. I bet if the Jazz could get a couple of HoF players that Gentry could be a good coach, maybe Corbin too.

So there aren't really any bad or good coaches? Only coaches who have bad players or good players? You might be right.

FWIW, I don't believe Sloan was a better coach in the 90s than in the 2000s. Sloan was a good coach the entire time he coached the Jazz.

Some of Sloan's best coaching jobs were in the 2000s. That team that went 42-40 after S&M retired was an absolutely miraculous coaching job.

Yep, that they were 42-40 is a testament to just how great Sloan and AK were that year.
