Neto making Trey Burke look like a 2nd round rookie right now. Burke sitting this one out, and he's got to be steaming seeing how well Neto is playing.

Based on the boxscore, Neto didn't exactly set the world on fire, rather he was steady and didn't hurt the team. 7 points on 2-3 FGs, 3 assists and 3 TOs and one of the lower +/- numbers on the team. Basically it was a Michael Stocktonesque performance. That's no knock on Neto, I'd just say Burke likely isn't chewing his fingernails off because of it.

Burke is saying the right things about how sitting out was a good experience and how he knows it wasn't a punishment so he is fine with it. But how many top 10 picks sit out a full summer league game when his team already had a day off between games? This was definitely the Jazz saying, "Trey, you look slow and like you have no confidence out there. Sit down and get it together." That coupled with Neto looking very confident and in control (and fast), IMO, likely had a competitor like Burke really wishing he was on the floor.

I think it was definitely a confidence move on the part of the Jazz. They were probably worried about his confidence and wanted to give him a chance to sit and watch, perhaps pick up some things that would help him going forward. To your point, it probably didn't help that in the game Burke sat out, the Jazz put up 98 points and won by 30.
Gobert also rested. Lamb did yesterday and Jackson did today. I'm not sure there's much to read into that.
But it sounds like Neto was very impressive.
Agree that there isn't much to read into it. But OKC played 4 games in 4 days, and Jackson is headed into his 3rd season. Makes sense their guys would get days off. Utah played one, had day off, played another, then Burke rested again. And coming in to the summer league the Jazz coaches said multiple times they were going to play Trey as much as he could handle so he could get as much experience as possible.
Burke has looked really slow. And I don't think he is that slow. I think he was over thinking everything. So this probably helps him out. Lowe said Neto knew every call and where every guy was supposed to be today, and it showed. He was just playing and reacting, instead of looking like he was dancing by numbers like Burke has been. I hope Trey can bounce back and have a really strong game tomorrow.
Couple Neto highlights here, including a slick cross. Kid's got some serious speed, and from watching some of his other footage a good low dribble that he doesn't give up easily.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

That was the biggest positive to me from his game today. He always kept his dribble alive, very Nash-esque.
It would be funny if Neto became the "PG of the future" instead of Burke. Although to even type that is pretty ridiculous considering we've seen just a few minutes of some meaningless summer league games.

Well some dude from ESPN went there before the season even started:

By the way, Jazz fans, allow me to blow your mind: get ready to like Neto more than Burke. Go ahead and favorite this
This kid is going to have a larger throng of modestly dressed Mormon girls trying to lead him to the Land of Deseret than even Kal-El Korver.
