  • I missed the game, but I'm glad we were playing they worst team in the league so our young guys could get some real minutes. What's that? They didn't get significant minutes? At least Bell is back. Nothing better than watching Bell and CJ put bagels up on the box score.

Looks like a bad night for Biyombo on the Bobcats. Did you catch him last night vs Dwight? 10 and 15 with 7 blocks. And they beat Orlando. Interesting.

    • Big Enes with 1 reb in 15 mins. Doing his best Brook Lopez impersonation.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

        • Just finished watching the game. Can't wait until the Jazz finally move Big Al and Paul.

Yes, whenever your starting bigs go off against the worst team in the NBA, you know the future is bright!

Shhhh. Don't bother him, he's meditating.

Besides, if we extrapolate Favors 18 min last night into the 33 Jefferson played he mighthave had the following stats: 33 pts 13 reb 4 blocks...against the worst team in the NBA. We wouldn't want that at all!

I'm guessing you didn't watch the game? Typical.

Jefferson has one of the best low post games in the NBA. Let's spin that into someone who can jack up 3's.

Jefferson has one of the best low post mid range games among centers in the NBA.

Now that we've established that, let's talk about Al Jefferson's defense.

Really? You think defense should be the primary focus when evaluating NBA talent?

                          Let's compare Big Al's Defense with Duncan's..

                          Career Blocks Steals PF TO
                          Tim Duncan: 2.2 0.7 2.5 2.6
                          Big Al: 1.4 0.7 2.8 1.5

Typical. Talk a big game and can't back it up. I'll be waiting on that list..

Stats aren't a great measure of defense, but come on, you can do a hell of a lot better than that. Team on/off court points per 100 possessions and opponent PER are a lot better than what you cited, even if they're not great.

                                Milk before Meat.

For you meat eaters, basketball-ref has some great defensive stats:

Player Off Rtg Def Rtg OWS DWS*
                                Duncan 103 98 1.3 1.8
                                Big Al 111 103 2.8 1.3

Obviously not a fair comparison due to Duncan's age/decline. 01-03 seasons (both MVP years) Duncan topped out at 114/96, 112/94 (Ortg/Drtg).

Obviously Big Al has a ways to go to match Duncan on the defensive side, but Big Al posted a 111/108 last year, so his defense has dramatically improved.

Big Al's offensive production is All-Star level. Yet the unwashed masses want to trade him.

*Off Rtg = estimate Pts per 100 possessions
Def Rtg = estimate Pts allowed per 100 possessions
OWS = Offensive win share (# wins directly linked to offensive contribution)
DWS = Defensive win share (# wins directly linked to defensive contribution)
