Adapt or die I guess. His greatest asset is his aggressiveness so improving his handles and court awareness should be a good thing. I doubt that when the season rolls around we see him running the offense but he needs to be more situationally aware.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostLocke says Burks is going to spend summer league playing point.
On a related note, I thought it was interesting to hear this morning that Earl Watson and Mo Williams have the same agent. Might be yet another dynamic of this whole trade situation."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

Yes please.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostLocke says Burks is going to spend summer league playing point.
I'm surprised teams don't do this more frequently. They've got back-up PGs like Derek Fisher and Earl Watson who are huge defensive liabilities, offer little on the offensive end, but who have long careers because they can bring the ball up the court I guess. Why not see if you've got another guy who can initiate the offense, but also presents other strengths? Even if Burks can't stay in front of Derrick Rose or John Wall, neither can Fisher or Watson.

Is that official? Did they waive Brewer as well? I thought I read that both of those players had only partially guaranteed final years on their deals and so Chicago was considering waiving both of them.Originally posted by Maximus View PostCHicago isnt bringing back krover, i say get him.

So it's official. Are we all just a bit too depressed to discuss it? Not sure how we end up taking back the worst contract in the deal and not either giving up a bad contract of our own (cough, Raja, cough) or getting a future draft pick as compensation.
Nice work, KOC.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I'm not depressed. Although this does very little to elevate the Jazz in the Western Conference this year, they get Williams for free for a year. Since he's free (as far as the cap is concerned) I don't mind not gaining other assets or casting off albatrosses (Bell).Originally posted by Donuthole View PostSo it's official. And then, the Jazz end up with tons of cap space, a solid young core, and whatever assets they accrue from disposing if Jefferson and/or Milsap. The 2013-14 Jazz have the potential (if KOC plays it right) to be a very solid franchise."Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. I'm ok with it. I have to agree with MG and say it's better than not using it (TE)."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

Hollinger says the Jazz got Williams "for free". His positive spin to me is really odd, because he has loved killing Williams for the past 3 years for his shot selection and horrible defense.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostSo it's official. Jazz pick up options on Carroll and Tinsley. Now have 4 point guards on the roster. Say plans are to let Harris and Williams play together quite a bit to increase depth on the perimeter. Over the cap, not in tax territory yet, could use part of MLE if a free agent works out. (summary from Smith of DesNews)

Carroll turned 5 min of garbage time overachievement into an extension. Good for him.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostJazz pick up options on Carroll and Tinsley. The whole "we need at least 3 PGs is so overplayed in Utah.
You need two and a combo guard that could step in, should there be an emergency. At this point you hope Burks can be that guy, and so you just need Harris and Mo Williams. I see no need for any of those other guys. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.
