Burks in his last 5 games:

    44% FGs, 6-8 on 3's, 11-12 FTs

Amazing what consistent minutes can do for a talented player. He has seemed timid about driving as much and that also seems to have affected his finishing near the hoop. Take those 3's away and his FG% is still awful. But Al did reference how Burks playing point clearly has a different mindset and it took a while to get him more comfortable there.

Doolittle at ESPN has been doing these comprehensive defensive rankings based on pretty much everything out there (Synergy, +/-, on/off court, opponent PER, etc.) He did one for perimeter players (Jimmer ranked second to last in the entire league, btw, just behind Mike Miller) and today he interior guys. Here's his individual leaders in particular metrics.

And here's a quick rundown of our league leaders in the six factors considered for the rankings:

      • Regularized Adjusted Plus-Minus: Kevin Garnett (plus-5.5 points per 100 possessions for the defensive component of the statistic)
      • Points per isolation allowed: Larry Sanders (0.32 points per isolation allowed)
      • Defensive isolation usage: Enes Kanter (3.2 isolations per 100 possessions)
      • Overall points per play allowed: Ronny Turiaf (0.62 points per play allowed)
      • Steals-plus-blocks percentage: Larry Sanders (10.65 percent)
      • Team opponent interior PER: Los Angeles Clippers (14.8)

There's big Enes, but I'm not entirely sure what defensive isolation usage means in terms of an evaluation and an explanation is not given. The only thing I could really think of is that if the opponent's usage is low against you, it's probably an indication that you're denying them good position on the floor. Either they're not in position to receive the ball and do something that would create usage, or they receive the ball and aren't able to do anything with it and give the ball back up.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

And they still aren't allowing him to take advantage of his size on the offensive end with any post ups.

Wait until someone else gets hurt. That is when Corbin's coaching chops really come out.

Enes was the Jazz best player in the 1st half, and he couldn't get in the game in the 3rd quarter. I'm not giving coach any props.

That hook shot was so great. And his J out on the floor seems to be getting pretty consistent.

Tiago Splitter, Patty Mills, and Captain Jack for Big Al. I do that in a second if I am the Spurs. Tiago and Al are both in the last year of their deals and they are similar in age. Al is twice the offensive player as Tiago, but Tiago is a better defender (albeit not by much).

Jazz get a very solid backup PG in Mills who can shoot the three (46% from the floor and 40% from three) and a solid wing that can guard the 2, 3 or 4 in Stephen Jackson. My guess is that Utah buys him out and he never plays a minute in a jazz uniform.

Tiago is averaging 10 and 6 on the year in 23 minutes. Since Duncan has gone down he is averaging 15 and 9 in 29 minutes and shooting 65% from the floor.

With Dejuan Blair out of the dog house and the emergence of Aussie center Aron Baynes that gives the spurs the room to move Splitter.

I am not sure if makes the Jazz any better other than giving more minutes for the young guns.

Kanter has only played 20+ minutes in a game four times this year. Four. He only played 30+ in one game: 34 minutes, 18 points and 8 rebounds. In the 4 games that he's played at least 20 mpg he's averaged 24 mpg, 11.5 ppg, 8 rpg, and 2 bpg. His p36 based on those limited games where he gets significant minutes: 17.5 ppg, 12 rpg, 3 bpg.

His p36 numbers for the season are 15.8 ppg, 10.4 rpg, and 1.4 bpg. His FG% is 54, FT% at 73 now, and his FTA rate is almost double Al's. Throw in much better defense this year and his newness to the game and it continues to baffle how getting him on the court for 20+ mpg is not a priority right now for this team.

I was actually fine with keeping Al earlier this year, but I think it's time to trade him for some good young talent. (That Mills + Splitter + other Spurs players trade is awful)

You're not going to get any good young talent for al. You could maybe get it for al + something, or al and taking back a bad contract.

I don't get the Spurs trade. Everyone is expiring except for Patty, right? So maybe we like Tiago and want to have a slight upper hand in resigning him, but it looks like that trade just brings you Patty Mills. Maybe that's better than nothing.

It's probably the fault of that POS college team he played for, but Ridnour sucks. No thanks.

Saw this earlier. There was also some rumor that they've discussed a deal for Ridnour that includes Burks.

                              Pass.

If it was a 2nd rounder, I would say hell yes. Otherwise, that bastard that turned down an offer from Rick Majerus can burn in hell.
