Wow. Just noticed that Ford has Sullinger slated at 13, and he would've been between 2-4 last year. And Terrence Jones doesn't even make the lottery.
Since I haven't followed the NCAA closely this year, can someone help me out. Why has Sullinger dropped so much and does Jones have a shot at being a solid NBA 3? Sullinger's #s haven't changed from last year. These kids need to learn that when opportunity knocks, you need to drop out of school and answer. These guys cost themselves a lot of money.
Wouldn't you swap Millsap for Sullinger?

Say Whaaaat?
Marcus Thompson @gswscribe
LACOB: "We think we can get our (first round) pick back regardless. ... We've had discussions with Utah. ... It's not a done deal."Marcus Thompson @gswscribe
SOURCE: Nothing can be done until draft lottery, but the Warriors have been working on reacquiring their pick back...Let me just say that if Jazz have the rights to the pick, they'd be stupid to give it back or movie it to next year without significant compensation. the 8th or 9th pick is the best you can hope for this year or next. If Bogut and Curry are healthy, GS is easily a playoff team next year.David Heise @dbheise
@gswscribe it would make sense for Utah to perhaps push the pick to next year, with less protection on it, considering their young core
The only piece I can see the Jazz being interested in is Curry or Klay Thompson, and I don't see GS interested in either Millsap or Jefferson (they have Bogut and David Lee). Dorrell Wright? Minor improvement over CJ, not worth passing on #8 pick. Brandon Rush? he can shoot 3s, but hasn't been able to get many shots, only 8 ppg in 27 min. Not an improvement over Hayward/Burks.

For Sullinger, I think 13 is about right. I think there are weight issues there, lack of athleticism, can't play defense really at all, isn't tall enough, etc. I think people wanted to see improvement and it just wasn't there. Now what you see is what you get with him, or at least that is the perception. In regard to the weight, lack of athleticism, defense, height, you could have said the same things about Kevin Love coming out of UCLA, although Love was a better overall prospect because of his passing, better rebounder, etc.Originally posted by Jacob View PostWow. I'm not a Millsap guy and I don't think I'd trade Sap straight up for Sullinger.
Jones has the size of a four and the game of a three. Also didn't make much of a jump from frosh to soph season. I agree that he's a mid-first rounder at this point.I'm like LeBron James.

What I meant by that is that I'd let Millsap walk and be happy replacing him with Sullenger at 1/5 the price, and I'd be confident he'd likely give me similar production fairly quickly. And he's significantly taller, if we can trust the measurements from 2009 (from 2009 Worlds) which show him at 6'9" barefoot.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI'm not a Millsap guy and I don't think I'd trade Sap straight up for Sullinger.
Like I say, I haven't seen him much so I don't know, but you say he can't defend, but Draft Express points to the fact that his team is one of the best defensive teams in the country http://kenpom.com/index.php?s=RankAdjDE
I'd guess he'll be at least as good as Millsap. And I don't see the bodyweight concerns. But, the Jazz need a lot more help on the guard line, so it would be odd us use their 1st pick on him.

I know I tend to overrate bodyweight concerns. I said the same thing about Love and the same about Cousins and neither has had even the slightest problem. I'm confident in saying he can't defend, despite the team defense numbers. I would imagine all of Matta's teams have been good defensive teams.Originally posted by Jacob View PostWhat I meant by that is that I'd let Millsap walk and be happy replacing him with Sullenger at 1/5 the price, and I'd be confident he'd likely give me similar production fairly quickly. I had no idea he was measured at 6'9" barefoot. For a guy that tall he sure plays below the rim.I'm like LeBron James.

Yes he does and he looks to be headed the Oliver Miller route rather than those two you mentioned.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI know I tend to overrate bodyweight concerns. I've now dragged the discussion on Sullinger on for far too long. But, why do you say that. This was written by DraftExpress about him last month:Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostYes he does and he looks to be headed the Oliver Miller route rather than those two you mentioned.
He did not rest on his laurels in the offseason, noticeably slimming down and improving his physique considerably

Josh Howard to have knee surgery, out for the year
In related news: CJ Miles to start! (from a source on CUF)
Edit: Wait a minute. Is Raja still out? I guess Corbin will have no choice but to play Burks major minutes.Last edited by Jacob; 03-20-2012, 02:41 PM.

Eh...I'm not an expert and I was going just based upon eye test when I watched the other night. Seemed to still have extra weight but it could be how his body is shaped I guess.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI've now dragged the discussion on Sullinger on for far too long. That's great news for Burks, and ultimately the Jazz. Rather have him than Bell/Miles, but Bell is missing games here and there anyway and we have to take what we can get.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostFree Alec Burks
