IMO, it's unfortunate that Memo had to play his prime years alongside an even worse defender in Boozer, as I think he could have really shined aside a more defensive-minded big.
I'm with you DH - I've always been a Memo fan as well. I've even always been of the opinion that his defense is adequate, but yeah it was never a good fit to have him playing next to the 6'9" SG. But it seems painfully obvious that he's done. Just has nothing left at this point.

well it doesnt look like the jazz are going to use amnesty on anyone else.

We better be planning using the trade exception with jefferson.

Jefferson is still a candidate if they want to fork out the money, and maybe even Bell if he's so terrible.

I loved Memo, I have tickets to the NJ game and will cheer for him, but I think it was time to pull the trigger on him. 10 million dollar trade exception is actually pretty big.

It's true, his defense is adequate. Just not when playing alongside someone who is an absolutely atrocious defender. Memo pretty much shut down Yao for an entire series a few years back. Boozer can't even shut down a laptop.

Sad to see memo go as well. He was pretty much the last guy on the roster that I had any connection to. It's insane how different this roster looks from a couple years ago.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Ugh, Locke tweeting about his AK boner and bringing him back because of this trade.

Jazz at $50 M on payroll without Watson, Howard, or Tinsley. Anyone know what Watson and Howard signed for?

It'd be interesting to see what possibilities that extra cap space might create in trades, or how much money the club is willing to take back with the trade exception.

Howard is making 3 million this year. Watson signed somewhere in the 2-2.5 million range I believe.

Amnesty is expired for this year. Jazz can still use it next year.

The trade exception allows the Jazz to take back 10m in salary more than they send out in a trade. So it won't be used in any Jefferson deal since he makes $14m this year. The trade exception from Boozer is how they were able to trade for Jefferson without sending salary to Minny.

And how bout NJ? We were laughing at the Bulls being the Jazz east last year with Booz, Brewer and Korver.
New Jersey now has Deron, Humphries, Okur, and Deshawn Stevenson. That's a pretty good Jazz rejects team.

This trade also means the Nets cannot sign AK. I still hope the Jazz bring him back.

I think it's clear the Jazz are clearing cap space to bring Deron back this offseason.

I thought Howard was one year 10 million.

No. It was a one year deal for 3 million.

Yeah, I'm 99% certain it is significantly higher than 3 mill.
