Hayward could have played like Raja the entire season and if Gail and Greg Miller heard about this they'd do everything they could to make him a lifelong Jazzman.

Gotta love those penny pinchers. He said he got an advance of his contract before the season started and he used it to buy a car. Since then he's lived off his per diem money and the $2,500 Subway card he got for doing a promo spot for them. He's used $500 of it, gave 1k to his girlfriend, and still has 1k left though he says he's kind of sick of Subway. Time to hit the Olive Garden.

Yeah, in fact Locke said it by accident while interviewing Ronnie, as if giving up Ronnie's name in connection with a Manu comparison might be grounds for shunning. Ronnie just laughed and reiterated how similar the players are. Ronnie also gave the standard line about his own future with the Jazz: "It's up to them, I want to be a part of this team."

I like the kid but his marketing usefulness and talent has run its course. We need an upgrade in the backcourt in the worst way and I think Ronnie Price will be a casualty of that upgrade (at least I'm hopeful that he is).

NBA per diem is $106 per day that they are on road. If they play 41 road games, my guess is they are on the road for at least 82 days. Since the pre and post game meals are covered in the locker room. There is not a lot a player needs to pony up for.

I actually thought Ronnie was a pretty good interview. Same with Earl. At least compared to Favors, who was struggling to put together full sentences, and AK, who seems to be regressing with his English.

Utah Jazz (via the 24-58 NJ Nets)7.6 percent chance
The Nets and Kings tied for the fifth worst record in the league. The NBA will hold a coin toss later this week to see which team gets that extra lottery combination and the rights to draft fifth if neither team wins the lottery.

The Jazz received this pick from New Jersey in the Deron Williams trade and are obviously looking for a long-term replacement for him at the point. If they win it all, Irving is a no brainer and both Barnes and Williams fit needs as well. If the Jazz don't land any of them, I could see them trying to package their other pick (No. 12) together to try to move up a few more spots. Brandon Knight and Kemba Walker are other possible picks for them as is Valanciunas.

The Jazz have a super slim second chance of winning the lottery. But with this pick all eyes will be on Fredette. Assuming the Jazz don't grab the top spot, virtually everyone sees them grabbing Fredette here. If GM Kevin O'Connor does it, it won't be because he's a local product. The team has scouted him heavily and thinks he can be a starting point guard in the league someday. Boston College's Reggie Jackson is another possibility here if Fredette is off the board.
