I just wish the Jazz had a front office and a coach like the Spurs. Sadly the Jazz are starting over in ever facet at this point. AK's departure will signal the end to the Mayan calendar."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault
"Once I seen the trades go down and the other guys signed elsewhere," he said, "I knew it was my time now." - Derrick Favors

Jazz only get to keep their own pick this year if it is in the Top 17, and next year's pick will then be dealt (not sure about protection next year).Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostIf the Nets pick ends up being top 10 which it will be, and Utahs pick will probably be 15-20 this year. Then next year the Warriors pick will most likely be top 15, and the Jazz own pick potentially in the lottery. They could build a nice young core.
This year "what if":
Nets pick: Kyrie Irving
Jazz pick: Jordan Hamilton
Warriors pick: John Jenkins (Gets you a solid shooter and slasher at the 2 guard)
Jazz Pick: Kris Joseph
Pair those 4 with Favors, Millsap, Gordon, Jefferson, etc. and in a few years you may end up with a nice young core.
And the Warriors pick only comes next year if it is outside the top 11.
Nets pick: Terrence Jones
Jazz pick: Jimmer Fredette
Warriors pick: Adonis Thomas

Millsap gets traded, right? It seems like the only logical step at this point. He's probably got the most value left on the team, they need perimeter help in a bad way, and his manageable contract makes it easier to work a deal for a young perimeter player still on a rookie contract.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostSo what happens with Jefferson and Sap? I think one of they have to move one of them now, but who's it going to be?
Jefferson is probably the better pairing with Favors, if you ask me. Sap + Favors is again just too small - Favors + Jefferson is not ideal size, but it's better, and I think favors could be a very quality defender at some point.
I do know that I feel bad for Al right now. Kid came to Utah to play for a winner, for a HOF coach, and with the best PG in the NBA. Instead he ended up in the biggest shit storm the franchise has seen in, oh, ever.
With Tomic still in the wings, I think the team has to move Millsap to balance out the roster and to make sure Favors gets time.

I'm pretty sure next year is only top 7 protected from what I've read. At least that is what I thought...Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostJazz only get to keep their own pick this year if it is in the Top 17, and next year's pick will then be dealt (not sure about protection next year).

I was just thinking about Tomic as well. Wonder how this affects the Jazz time table with him? My guess is they now wait until his deal with Real is done instead of trying to bring him over for next season.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostMillsap gets traded, right? No, Warriors pick. The only place I looked was NBADraft.net outstanding trades table, and it said Top 11 next year, then Top 10, then two 2nd round picks in 2013 and 2015.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostWarriors pick. Are you talking Jazz pick?

That is my guess. I just hope it's not for a "veteran" two with no legs left. What about a trade for Wesley Johnson and Luke Ridnour for Milsap. Wesley's struggled a bit his rookie season only shooting 41% and 35% from 3 but he is long and athletic. And the Jazz would get a white guy they so desperately covet.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostMillsap gets traded, right? It seems like the only logical step at this point. If Love and Jefferson didn't work Love and Sap won't be any better.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostThat is my guess. I just hope it's not for a "veteran" two with no legs left.
