The Jazz (or more accurately Karl Malone) already got David Locke fired once (around '97?). Then he did a stint up here in Seattle and maybe even Portland.Originally posted by camleish View Postone thing i can't stand about locke is how he has to forgo any kind of criticism of the team or front office because he's on their payroll. it makes his show and interviews impossible for me to listen to.
Prior to that he was BRUTAL in his criticism of local sports teams especially the Jazzzzz, the Utes (can't beat Kentucky and football sucks), and BYU's record in bowl games and against big teams. He used to call out Karl Malone for being a prima donna in the offseason, and a whiner during the season who half-assed his way to $275k/game.

"The real fault lies with the Jazz management, who should have found a way to ease Jerry out when it was clear he was ready to go."
Pretty much.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Absolutely. Jerry all but said as much: "I've been wanting to quit for the last 3 years, but they just kept giving me these multi-million dollar extensions, no questions asked, and I didn't know how to tell them no, even though I had been giving them the signs that I was done for the last 3 years." Paraphrasing, but that's essentially what he said.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostDid Williams Force Sloan Out Of Utah? - ESPN Video - ESPN

He's a grown-ass man, and can't shift the blame to them entirely, but how ridiculous is it that they weren't sitting down and evaluating things with him on a regular basis? Seems like if they'd given him the opportunity to bow out gracefully in the last few years, he'd have jumped at it.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Morbid curiousity alone ALMOST compels me to go to tonights game. I want to see if the fans turn on D-Will. It might be worth an upperdeck ticket. I'll see what the wife's plans are tonight."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

As much as I want to give Deron the credit for doing what should have been done long ago, the more I learn about things, the more I'm confident Deron did nothing out of the ordinary that may have caused Sloan to hang it up. It sounds to me like Sloan simply - perhaps, finally - realized he was too old and couldn't do the job any longer.I'm like LeBron James.

It's all lining up that way. Sloan has had a million similar confrontations with players. This time he realized he didn't have the energy to keep doing it.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostAs much as I want to give Deron the credit for doing what should have been done long ago, the more I learn about things, the more I'm confident Deron did nothing out of the ordinary that may have caused Sloan to hang it up. I don't think there's much more to the story than that.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Exactly. I think it's really that simple.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostIt's all lining up that way. Sloan has had a million similar confrontations with players. This time he realized he didn't have the energy to keep doing it.

A friend just told me that KFC said on the radio today that what happened between deron and sloan doesn't even rank among the top 10 dust ups between a player and jerry that he's been a witness to. Personally I would have paid money to be there when tag threw the bag of ice at his head.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostExactly.
