  • JaJuan Johnson, perhaps? Or will he be gone too early?

How tall is Jenkins at Vanderbilt. Can he play the 2 in the NBA?

Johnson is currently being stuck with the "he's a senior in college and thus has zero upside" tag. So most projections have him late first/early second.

      I think Jenkins is 6'4".

That's crazy about Johnson. He seems like a can't miss guy to me. Brings it every night, is skilled and has the length and athleticism NBA teams seem to covet in the draft.

        • Interesting Blurb from Hollinger today:

          Kyrylo Fesenko, Jazz
I'm not sure whether he's in Utah's long-term plans, given the immaturity issues he has shown and his glaring lack of offensive skill, but Fesenko can help the right team for one single reason: The dude is huge. And because of that, he has had a tremendous impact on games defensively.

According to basketballvalue.com, Utah gives up 97.53 points per 100 possessions when he's on the floor … and 109.78 when he isn't. That 12.26 point differential is by far the greatest on the team and leads one to wonder why he hasn't been paired more with either Al Jefferson or Paul Millsap -- perhaps even as a starter. He's an unrestricted free agent after the season, so if the Jazz aren't interested in using him, perhaps somebody else can make it work.

          • Fess' size always makes an impact regardless of skill.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

            • If they had a reliable offensive and defensive threat at the 2, Fes would play more, plain and simple. As it stands, Paul and Al have to play all of those minutes just to keep pace offensively due to the entire team's lack of ability on defense.

This doesn't address why Fess doesn't get some play with Al or Paul. Instead he gets his minutes with Elson, or Evans, or AK at the 4.

                • Take them for what they're worth...

The Jazz are highly active right now. Not surprising because of how bad they have been recently and they are willing to move all 13 players and rights held. They aren't tanking it, they're just a lot more receptive than usual.

Of the players on the team the most likely to be traded are Hayward, Millsap, Evans, Price, Fesenko and Elson. The least likely is Okur; because nobody wants him. She thinks the Jazz will make a trade, they've been talking to Houston about sending Fess for a draft pick but they've also been inquiring with Memphis about Thabeet.

Deron Williams is likely done in Utah. maybe not this season but she highly doubts he will be wearing a Jazz uniform next year. At all else he leaves in 2012. This is unfortinately because she hints it's not that he isn't happy here, quit the contrary he likes it here, but the league has pretty much at this point rendered all but 6 teams as farm clubs. The Nuggets and Hornets are dealing with the same stuff and there is a good chance that the new CBA will just make it impossible for those teams to compete for very long. She pretty much came out and said, without totally coming out and saying, that either Miami or the Lakers are going to win the title and nothing anyone else does this season really matters.

Her veiw on the league has gotten quit pessimestic, and apparently there is some nasty stuff going on behind the scenes. The league wants to contract and every team but Miami, New York, Boston, Lakers, and Warriors are on the chopping block. That includes teams such as the Sixers, Magic, Mavericks, Spurs and Rockets. Most likely the teams which will get the axe are going to be the Hornets, Grizzlies and Bobcats with the Jazz coming in 4th. The league isn't looking at attendence, history or anything it's purely looking at this from a marketing standpoint and the Jazz are generally considered one of the least marketable franchises in sports and Salt Lake City is one of the least desirable cities for athletes to live in. Only Buffalo, Toronto, Cleveland and Sacramento faired worse in the 4 major sports.

The thing that may save the Jazz is the ownership and how they've ran the team the last 30 years. The Jazz own their arena and aren't in any considerable debt. Which means they would fight contraction or the league would have to give them close to 4 billion dollars for the Jazz, something the league cannot afford. The other teams are not so lucky. She thinks 500 million may be enough to get rid of the bottom 3 easily.

Jerry Sloan leaving surprised her but not all that much. When the Jazz where in Philly she notice he seemed uninterested. What she doesn't know is what really happened. The reports that Deron made him quit may be false. The decission seems to have come from management. One possibility is that ownership felt he was misusing Evans and Hayward and Sloan got tired of their interferience.

Now on to a few trades she's heard about.

The Jazz have hald talks with the Hornets about acquiring both Chris Paul and David West. Paul is not going to happen because the deal didn't include Williams, if the Jazz offered Williams than yes it would likely happen. The Jazz do like West and would offer Paul Millsap as the main piece to get him. Pending he signed an extension.

Another deal involving Millsap would send him Evans, Hayward, and Tomic to Denver, melo to the Lakers, and Bynum to the Jazz. The Jazz are apparently the team who nixed that feeling that Bynum would be Carlos Boozer 2.0 but without the drive, talent or pain resistance.

Several teams are interested in Evans. The Jazz don't seem interested in moving him however.

Williams has also attracted a lot of attention recently With Dallas, Lakers and Orlando being the most interested.

Speaking of Williams, he really wants to play with Dwight Howard. Both players are free agents in 2012 and will likely sign somewhere to play together. However, there are really only a couple of places this could happen if the CBA resembles anything like it does now. One is Dallas, the other is Utah. If the Jazz can convice Howard to sign, Williams would likely follow suit. But again, not likely to happen.

She's sending me more stuff tonight, so I should have more.

                  • Part 2

]Its not just the Jazz which are in upheaval, several teams are a complete mess and most of it has to do with the economy and interference by other teams.

The thing I mentioned a while ago about the Hornets and Nuggets suing the NBA. It's because both those teams, especially the Hornets, apparently have evidence that the Knicks have violated the anti-trade tampering rules and the NBA refuses to do anything about it. Those teams may also be trying to get a federal investigation against the Knicks. Apparently the Knicks have been cheating for some time but have sucked so bad at it no body cared.

Mark Cuban is trying to lead a group of owners to oust Stern and Silver, but he's got to be careful because if he fails it could be his ... who gets tossed. Cuban is under the believe that the NBA hates him and it's David Stern's fault that the Mavericks choke in the playoffs.

The Jazz have no interest in Troy Murphey. They'd rather keep Kirilenko.

The players that the Jazz have been linked to are the following:
                    Luis Scola
                    Hasheem Thabeet
                    David West
                    Brandon Roy
                    Sasha Vujacic
Richard Hamilton(wont happen because Detroits going to buy him out and wont give up Monroe or their pick)
                    Marcin Gortat
                    Vince Carter
                    Dan Gadzurich
DeMarcus Cousins (Would require Hayward and Evans and that may be too steep for Jazz)
                    OJ Mayo
                    Jason Kapono
                    Jason Smith
                    Luke Harengody

Most are just the Jazz inquirying about the players, but they have real interest in Kapono, Carter/Gortat, Thabeet and Scola. If the Jazz make a move she thinks it will be for at least one of these players. Gortat and Carter would be in a package involving AK and Tomic. Harengody would be acquired with a second round pick for a trade exception.

                    • If the Jazz nixed a deal sending out Millsap and garbage for Bynum, I will personally poison all of Kevin O'Connors' trees.

And it seems to me that Millsap is our 1st or 2nd most valuable player when looking at both salary and production. So, I can't understand why we'd want to lose him. But I can see why other teams would rather have him than Jefferson. But trading Sap for West and then paying West a lot more money? That doesn't make any sense or make the Jazz any better.

But Bynum does. That rumor is baloney.

I think you underestimate how highly upper management thinks of Tomic.

Maybe. But you may underestimate how highly I think of Bynum. It looks like Bynum is actually younger than Tomic.

If the Jazz made that trade today, they'd be top 2 or 3 in the west right now and would have a better chance at beating the Lakers in the playoffs.
