Most coaches say that (Sloan and Corbin always said the same thing), and they still end up playing guys that help their offenses. Snyder also wants to run an infinite variety of SnR's, and you can't do that if teams won't guard you outside five feet. Enes will play close to 30 a night, and look at that list above (or DL's quotes) -- Novak is the only established shooter in a rotation 10-deep, he's getting on the floor. I think everyone already expects and wants a lot of Favors.

    • Maybe they're preparing to move Evans? Even Kanter? At face value I can't seem to figure out why they would sign him for well over what other teams would have paid.

Otherwise, the shooting on that team looks pretty painful.
        Hadn't heard that nickname. Clever.

I remember how hamstrung those Jazz teams were when we trotted out Deron/Brewer/AK/Boozer/Memo. Boozer was fine out to 18-20 feet, and Memo was a legit 3-point threat. Deron was a great shooter. But teams would collapse on the paint because they didn't have to guard Brewer or AK at all. Adding Korver and Wessy Wes both helped, and offensively those Jazz teams were some of the most fun to watch. But without the shooting, it clogged lanes and made things tough. The Deron/Memo combo was better than what we have now, especially with Deron's ability to finish drives compared to Trey.

I mentioned this the other day, but I think Go Bear and Exum are the most interesting players this year and will have the most impact on what the Jazz do going forward. I could see the Jazz committing to a Favors/Go Bear pairing and then trying to work in a stretch 4 as part of the regular rotation. And if Exum is more point than anything else (and I think he is), then the Jazz could very well move Burke as I think his value is higher than just keeping him and letting him sulk as a backup. Kanter + Burke could probably yield something decent. Of course if Kanter can shoot it a little maybe they just keep the 3 together, as guys like Go Bear tend to not really be able to play big minutes.

Playing completely inverted hoop with your 2 scoring around the basket and your 5 jacking up 3's was pretty awesome.

                • Booker's eFG% on jumpers the past two years: 40.7% and 30.6%

Evans: 44% last year (18.3 mpg compared to Booker's career average of 20.3 mpg)

Booker's PER the last two years: 15.0 and 13.9

                  Evans: 16.2 last yr

                  Booker's tRB% last two yrs: 14.1 and 14.9

                  Evans: 14.8

                  Real plus/minus: Booker -3.33, Evans -2.28
Defensive RPM: Booker -2.90, Evans 0.50

But Booker plays hard. That must be why he's worth $5 M when you already have Evans on the team making $1.7 M.

Did Booker's deal put Utah over the cap?

No. But combined with Hayward's deal, it nuked most of the "flexibility" Utah had to straight absorb salary.

                      • Utah continues it's quest to own every 2nd round pick in the 2017 draft.

Trades non-guaranteed deals of Lucas, Thomas, and Murphy to Cle for 2nd round pick, $1 M, and a guy named Carrick.
