How many of those would you consider All-Stars v Busts? It looks to me like it's about a 50/50 proposition of guys being projected high making it and not. Some of that is probably due to injury.

      Interesting, thanks for the post.

DX has a new feature on their website where they break down drafts of the past 25 years, by number of all-stars, HOFers rank in terms of PER, scoring, assists, rebounds, etc. There is almost no difference historically between the 5th pick and the 2nd and 3rd picks. In fact, the average result for 3rd pick in the draft is about what Burks did last season. IOW, the most likely result, if the Jazz were to make such a trade would be to trade three guys who will probably have a PER of 15-17 for one guy who will most likely be a 15-17 PER guy. In terms of points - three guys who will score 13-17 PPG, for one guy who will score 13-17 ppg.

That's the average. But what it the Jazz have an opportunity for an anomaly? Michael Jordan went #3. It would have been worth trading the next 5 #1 picks to go from 5 to 3 in that draft.

I'm just saying what the most likely outcome is. Sure they may get a Carmelo at 3, but they could get a DWade at 5. The chances of getting the anomaly at 5 is essentially the same as getting the anomaly at 3.

Embiid now a big man with back issues and a foot injury.

Just spoke with Embiid's agent Arn Tellem. "I can confirm the Joel suffered an injury to his right foot. ..

Well, he might be available at our pick now!

Could Utah get that lucky twice, first having Borchardt drop to them and now Embiid?

I doubt he slides to #5. But if I'm in Dennis Lindsey's shoes, I would roll the dice on Embiid at that spot.

Embid is now a very scary pick. At what point in the draft does the potential reward justify the risk of drafting him. If he did slip to 5, you have to seriously consider if he is worth that risk.

Probably the opposite. The price to get Jabari just went up.
