Of course he's going to be the leading scorer. That's essentially a given.

I was going for a bold prediction with the 40% threes thing.

This is maybe where that Booker deal hurts. Rumors coming from several sources that Cleveland is trying to acquire non-guaranteed deals to facilitate the Love trade. Utah has four such contracts, including the $1.6 M Lucas contract. If they had that $5 M that was given to Booker to take back some extra salary in a potential 3-team trade, they could still be in asset acquisition mode instead of giving $5 M to the fifth big on the team.

They had to act fast, if they didn't give him 5 million someone else certainly would have.

Someone else was going to pay him, this is true. You guys act like the Jazz have any chance to compete this year. Besides that Booker is also a young player who's to say he is not the future at the 4 for the Jazz?

The fact that he's essentially a thicker Jeremy Evans says so.

I actually like Booker. He's a good energy guy off the bench, hustles, plays defense and rebounds. He played that role well for the Wizards. He's undersized but plays big. I like his game quite a bit. I know the Wizards wanted him back but that was impossible after paying Gortat and trying to keep Ariza. The Jazz overpaid a bit, but they're always going to have to do that.

Overpaying is fine. But they overpaid and have no use for him. I still don't get it.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Booker 28 minutes, Kanter 20 minutes. Wait for it.

Tony Jones of the Trib was trying to sell Booker as a stretch 4. He'll be the worst shooting big on the team. Then Genessy of the DesNews was saying Booker fits well in the system because he can drive the ball so effectively. Jones always tries to sell himself as the basketball expert in the local media because he played. So his comment was a self-induced asininity. But Genessy generally takes his talking points directly from a source with the team, so someone with the team apparently thinks Booker is suddenly going to be capable of driving to the rim even though he never showed that skill in 4 yrs at Clemson or during his NBA career.

Didn't he have a team option/qualifying offer that they didn't pick up? It seems like if Washington really wanted him back, they could've kept him inexpensively. Or am I confusing with another player in this crazy FA period.

They could've extended him a QO to make him a RFA but opted not to. The QO would've been $4.6 M.

Probably. But seriously, if the 4/5 minutes shake out like I'm thinking (Favors 33, Kanter 30, Novak 18) and there are about 15 minutes left in the pool, I'd like to see all that time go to Gobert. Basically there are 4 guys I'd rather see get minutes in the rotation, and if those guys falter (fouls, injuries, whatever), I'd rather just plug in Jeremy Evans for those minutes. Maybe they think Booker can play some 3, but I don't really see anything that suggests that.

Snyder said if you don't play defense you don't play. Which means Novak and Enes are out. Expect a lot of Favors and Booker.

Booker's eFG% on jumpshots last year was 40.7%.

                                Hayward
                                Exum
                                Hood
                                Favors
                                Gobert
                                Kanter
                                Booker
                                Novak

There is the potential for this to be one of the worst shooting teams ever. There is one established shooter in there, and that is Novak. Jazz really need a bounce back year from Hayward, improvement from Trey, and some semblance of consistency from Rodney Hood, Prince of Threes (which I doubt they'll get in his rookie year). Otherwise, the shooting on that team looks pretty painful.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
