From Locke's interview on 1280 today:

    - Hayward didn't get along with Corbin. Hayward would absolutely be gone if Corbin was still the coach. Hayward toed the company line in public, but had many disagreements with Corbin in practice and behind closed doors.

    - One of Hayward's major disagreements was Corbin's refusal to break from system to exploit a match-up. Hayward felt there were some match-ups where he could've really taken advantage of the defender on him but Corbin insisted they run their system as normal regardless.

    - Locke thinks Snyder's offense will rely on spacing, and will run upwards of 70-80 pick and roll situations each game, often several in one possession

    - Thinks Snyder really does want two "point" guards on the court at once, plan is to have Burke and Exum in together, paired with Hayward at SF. Snyder believes you can be most successful if you're putting the non-PG's on defense as the guy defending the ball on the screen/roll. That's why Hood could be very valuable if he can continue his productive play as an initiator, and Burks has shown he can break a defense down on those plays.

    - Kanter will be used to his strengths better now. He's going to shoot a lot, can be a good pick and pop option. Won't be required to only play with his back to the hoop almost exclusively.

    - Gobert might play a lot early, at least until Favors and Kanter show they will run the court (meaning getting back on defense too) as hard as Gobert does. Snyder wants to set a tone for proper effort on defense and Gobert works harder than those two.

    - Hayward isn't one of the worst spot up shooters in the league, as he was last year. Something was wrong, likely the pressure of auditioning for a new contract, and his spats with Corbin. Should be a much better shooter if he's back in Utah next year.

As a side note, I think the worst possible guy any of these local shows have on to talk sports has to be Bolerjack. He was the guest host with Checketts today. He has a magical voice. That doesn't mean he can break down hoops and have it mean anything.

The Toronto Raptors have traded Steve Novak to the Utah Jazz.

Novak was acquired last offseason by the Raptors from the New York Knicks.

      Uh, ok.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Awesome thing is this was the Jazz helping take salary and all we got out of it was a 2nd round pick.

Novak is a great shooter, who shot 47% from 3 to lead the league in New York in 2011-12. He also spent some time in Houston (2006-2008) and SA (2010-11) so I'm guessing there is some familiarity with DL and QS to some degree.

I know the Jazz said they needed a big to stretch the floor. Novak does that, though he's absolutely a liability on the other end of the floor. Hopefully this helps open lanes for the wings and space underneath for Favors/Kanter without taking too much PT from them. It also probably means no Marvin coming back, unless G signs elsewhere.

It appears that Charlotte is not afraid of Lindsey's threat to match all offers.

Any rumors of an offer/amount? That cheap picture couldn't have cost much to make.

Isn't that an electronic image? I think we've spit out better shops in the "summons" thread.

Hayward signs with the Hornets. No word on the terms.

I guess "agrees to sign" is the better terminology.

                      And Lindsey's clock just started.

Ultimately it came down to that sign. The jazz haven't made any signs outside the ESA. The hornets welcome not only him but his family, too. You can't blame Hayward for going with the hornets.

If GH truly cared about family he'd stay in Utah and play his games in the shadow of the building that makes families eternal.

I work very close to the ESA and the only two buildings whose shadow would even come remotely close would be either the KSL news building or the gateway mall. Neither of those are enough to keep him in SLC.

Signed, the team who put a 50-foot image of Gordon Hayward on the outside of the building yesterday.
