Parker was more dynamic, but Hood was a much more consistent shooter, took better care of the ball and defended better. I'm not saying Hood is better or even as good, but the gap is small between the two.
Right- I just argued with someone here in the office that he's Jabari's equal if not his superior, but he just doesn't have the magic "upside" fairies dusting his name. I don't 100% believe that's right (I was just arguing), because I think Jabari's gonna be a monster in the league, but Hood was definitely under the radar- possibly primarily because of Jabari.

      Exum or Hood?

Good question. There has to be somebody. I was thinking Penny Hardaway, but he was a pretty explosive leaper too.

I've often thought it would have been good to fire Corbin before last year, and get someone who was truly on board with tanking for a year (coach with 4-5 year deal), but maybe that's just silly talk.

Is a good comparison for Hood a guy like Taysean Prince? What is his upside?

That absolutely would've been the better deal, like Boston did with Stevens. Then let Stevens put in his system, let players try new things (like Sullinger being told to shoot 3's), and then if the team ends up at 6 in the draft, at least they got a system in place and saw how the players would fit in that system.

I think the guys were going to see benefit the most from the coaching change are Kanter and Burke. And if they step up enough, it will open things up for Hayward so he can bounce back.

He's black and left-handed. But more like Calbert Cheaney than Prince.

He does remind me of Cheaney quite a bit, but maybe that's just because he's a lefty. Maybe a young Caron Butler. Or Eddie Jones w/o the defense.

He doesn't really strike me as the accountant type, to be honest. Cheaney does seem like a good comparison. IIRC, Jalen Rose brought up James Posey last night - that could be a decent comparison as well.

Lindsey mentioned twice that they really liked him because he's underrated in the pick and roll. The guys I'm thinking of comparing him too weren't really good initiators in screen/roll situations. But if Hood can do that well, and space the floor, he's going to be a great fit in what Snyder wants the team to run. They're talking about Hood being able to play two positions. Are they seeing him as a 3 and big 2, or 3 and stretch 4? I'm guessing more of filling Marvin's role as a small 4.

Feeling pretty good about the Jazz landing the guy they had 15th in such a deep draft with the 23rd pick. I hope Ford was right on the Jazz draft board. My guess is if Hood was even 1 year younger he would've gone significantly sooner. But Pelton's numbers certainly aren't a fan.

That sounds good. I was thinking maybe Devin Harris coming out of Wisconsin seemed to play a similar style. To hear Lindsey talk about him, it sounds like they certainly view him as a scorer and creating offensive for himself, not being a facilitator.

Dang. Last night espn was showing the pick as a 2016 1st rounder. I was hoping that was true.
