They are freshmen and sophomores. Rose didn't forget how to coach since they beat Gonzaga.

I know he knows how to coach but these kids are dumb players who insist on resorting to hero ball or rushing when they don't need to rush, or failing to exercise energy when they need to. They are doing the exact opposite of what they are being told to do. I have full confidence he is telling the right things, but the LP3 seems to be so headstrong on doing it their way.

Emery is at his ceiling and it isn't very high. Haws will show next year what he's got in the tank but he sure makes a lot of dumb decisions and doesn't play defense very hard. Emery is what he is. I just wish he would not shoot unless he has his feet and shoulders set and has a good clean shot.

I don't think they are so stupid as to not realize they didn't perform this year how they expected. I expect that they will be eager to do what it takes to win. Haws, Mika, and Emery are so competitive this won't sit well. Yes they should have got the message sooner, but next year will be very telling.

Their instincts are not good. Mika has shown a lot of improvement, but he needs to rely upon his teammates more and not become such a black hole. He is by far BYU's best player, and second place isn't even close.

When things break down, their instincts seem to be to try to run a one-man show. That's the hero ball which is so very frustrating. None of them are so dominating athletically to be able to accomplish that. I hope Haws does something about defensive effort next year. I want to throw my hat at the screen every time I watch him play soft defense or be slow to switch.

Emery, I've given up on him. His silly shots, his just bad decision making is so very frustrating. I don't know where BYU goes from here, but Emery is not a starting guard material. I would prefer to see him come off the bench where he can be a fiery defender, perhaps be read to get hot. He appears to have regressed so much this year.

I'm concerned about this team going forward. Mentally weak and extremely undisciplined. I like Rose and think BYU is lucky to have him. However, if he isn't able to get this team to perform in the next two years to a much higher level, his seat will get very hot.

Cleveland said that earlier this year. It's a very good take.

We are a young team that needs to mature. We got sliced and diced pretty good by St. Mary's but still, there is a lot of potential. Hopefully this loss sticks in the craw of the team and provides motivation for the off-season.
