Cougarboard is talking about Jared Stutzman being a possibility. He signed with San Francisco and his home early from his mission and he is looking to transfer somewhere. Utah wants him. I don't think BYU has a chance at Cullen Neal.Originally posted by Commando View PostLooks like Twitter's ablaze w news that Toolsen's gonna be doing the duffle bag drag this summer. BYU has one more scholarship for next year. 10/13 scholarships will be freshman or sophomores at least. 8/12 spoken for scholarships are RMs. There is also a good chance for serious continuity over the next 3-4 years. I would like to see BYU find someone to fill the role BYU envisioned Toolsen filling but my guess is if BYU cannot find a quality graduate transfer they will eat this scholie/give it to a walk on for a year. It is probably too late in the game to find anything at the JC level. I am a bit concerned that BYU's perimeter bench players will be Jordan Chatman, Stephen Beo and Jaykob Hartsock. But onward and upward. Perhaps Rose will surprise me with a good late find out there, that is very easy to do at BYU!Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostApparently some are reporting that Corbin Kaufusi is going to play both sports next season. So he will be back for conference season as an enforcer. I would like to see Corbin all year long for hoops but I think the reality is he might as well enjoy his college experience and become another boring ass BYU graduate who gets a job in accounting or something like that. He ain't gonna get many bills paid through either football or hoops. But if I understand the rules of college sports athletic scholarships if Corbin is going to be on scholarship he must get it from the football team since that is the first sport he will play next year. In other words I think there is room for BYU to add another player or two depending on if BYU gives a scholarship to Stephan Beo (which I believe BYU will end up doing) - hopefully either a graduate transfer or a JC transfer who can play the wing.
I think these are your 13 scholarship players for next year assuming Toolsen and Kaufusi are no longer on scholarship:
Senior (1)
-Kyle Davis
Junior (2)
-Jamal Aytes
-Possible JC or Graduate Transfer
Sophomores (6)
Nick Emery
Eric Mika
Jordan Chatman
Elijah Bryant
Braiden Shaw
Jaykob Hartsock
Freshman (4)
Stephan Beo
TJ Haws
Payton Dastrup

Over on Cougarboard they are talking about some kid named Konner Frey who was UVU's 3rd leading scorer last year as taking the last scholie as a graduate transfer. He will have one year to play one and is eligible immediately. He has a touching late bloomer story that roseyscenario waxed eloquent about. Rosey is sometimes a bit rosey when it comes to BYU hoops projections, so take it for what it is worth.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostBYU has one more scholarship for next year. 10/13 scholarships will be freshman or sophomores at least. 8/12 spoken for scholarships are RMs. There is also a good chance for serious continuity over the next 3-4 years. It sounds like UVU used him as a 4 but my guess is at BYU he would be more a perimeter 3. I don't know if he is any more athletic than Hartsock, wrt ability to defend on the perimeter, and if he isn't I am not sure what benefit he brings, so I have no idea what he could do for BYU but my guess is as late in the game as it is this is probably the best BYU can get. He averaged 14 ppg 7 rpg and shot 42% from the field, 33% from 3 and 72% from the line. IMO a pretty acceptable pick up this late in the game and somebody who can give BYU 10-15 mpg off the bench as a perimeter forward. He also plans to enter BYU's Master of Accounting program so likely a dorky kid who will get a hawt wife who only loves him for his income earning potential! Good to hear Tanner is getting married. Would hate to see him kicked out of college for having consensual sex out of wedlock."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

And Mika looks skinny.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.
