  • I was just over on CougarBoard, I need to stop going there, and some idiot who believes we should fire Rose was saying that BYU has underperformed relative to their talent. I laughed but then I got to thinking that he might be right. So, I went to the RPI and looked for a team who has had a similar season to us that I knew might have better talent. I only looked at one to confirm he was an idiot. The Ohio State University has recruited better than we have, doesn't have a mission problem, isn't all freshmen and sophomores, and had a worse season. I won't go down the rabbit hole and post over ther but damn someone needs to straighten those clowns out.

      • Great highlights of the Zags' win last night.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Wow, those are great. Excellent team, Gonzaga.

That did help be figure out what happened to ponytail boy. I guess they started him because he's a senior, but then he disappeared.
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Wasn't it Jimmer's daughter's birthday as well? As the Chinese say, "Auspicious day."

Also, with a name like Wesley James Fredette, female wasn't the first gender I would have bet on.

That's interesting because they started Karnowski then he also disappeared.

I am not a fan of the stupid assclowns over there who are talking about Rose moving on. It is disloyal to the most successful basketball coach BYU has had and demonstrates an ignorance of where BYU stands in the basketball world as well as a lack of grasp of why Rose was so successful, by BYU standards, for most of his tenure.

Saying that I am of the opinion that this team should have done better this year than it did. But the disrespectful talk about Dave Rose annoys me on many levels.

I hope this club is turning a corner. We still lack depth and I wonder about how folks are going to accept roles going forward but I genuinely believe we are starting to see Elijah Bryant develop into the player many thought he would be. Mika is only going to get better with increased range and consistency. I think TJ Haws will improve his consistency and ability next year and I hope that Emery accepts a role as a defensive stopper and shoot when open shots come rather than trying to be the man on offense. Throw in Yoeli's improvement and I don't think a top 25 caliber of team is crazy talk for next year. If we can finish this year beating St Mary's and then make a run in the NIT I really believe Rose has them poised for next year to be special.

There is no question that the increased percentages of key players serving missions the past few years vis-a-vis Rose's first 6 years, the higher number of kids getting injured and some kids who just did not develop for BYU to bridge the gap to the current crew (Bartley, the kid who transferred to Clemson etc) resulted in the overall performance dropping the past few years. But if one is familiar with BYU's place in the hoops world rather than being a standard-holder-upper like most of the mouthbreathers on Cougarboard, it isn't a surprising dip for Rose. The SHU gang just could not hold it in any longer when the long awaited crew was struggling with the likes of UVU and USD - whose jerseys are in cursive. We shall see if Rose and the boys really do have it figured out and can finish consistently and build into next year.

I am an optimist and am expecting it.

Sure would be nice to have Frank Bartley this season.

Averaging 16, 4 and 3. On 45% from the floor and 38% from three. His team is 18-11 as well. So he isn't putting up good numbers on a bad team.

                        • I still am sad for the loss of Kaufusi. I know this isn't really Rose's style, but I really think if he would've committed to his BB game and worked his ass off this past offseason, we could have had a twin towers lineup that would have been deadly with the guards we have. Sigh.

Gotta admit I didn't see this coming. I remember him mostly flying out of control into the key with no idea what he was going to do with the ball.

I do miss him trying to dunk on everybody. That was my favorite thing about Frank, he forgot he was only 6'3.
