  • I had three run-ins with the BYU Honor Code:

    1. I got a phone call telling me that I was violating the Honor Code by screaming "NO F***ING WAY" repeatedly in my bedroom. It coincided with my playing of Age of Empires and a losing streak. I apologized and agreed to refrain from vulgar language.

    2. I got a call from my bishop that he had been contacted by the Honor Code Office warning me that my fiancee's presence in my bedroom was a serious violation of the Honor Code; so, we only made out at her place at USU after that.

    3. I got a letter informing me that I was charged with 'theft' for highlighting blue brackets in the margin of a couple of pages in three different books on Jacques Derrida. Someone actually took the time to go through the books I turned in and see that the markings were the same. I had to pay a fine of $30 per book (I think) and the "charges" were "dropped" against me, with a warning that another Honor Code violation would see me expelled. That one sucked.

I seem to remember someone else contacting me about telling someone in my ward to STFU in the courtyard at Roman Gardens, but I can't remember if it was the HC Office or just some Art Vandelay wannabe.

A natural consequence? You mean like her body executes itself after it's been raped?

    • Another fantastic ancillary benefit of Davies dismissal...Zylstra gets to keep his scholarship next year.

Look at the whole Leinert/Cameron pregnancy at USC. It was a huge PR mess that literally reached Oprah/People magazine proportions. And that was at USC. If this is something like that, it was going to be a giant mess no matter what.

I suspect it is probably Rose, not the HCO, trying to get it behind them before the shit really hits the fan. It's better to deal with it now, rather than at tournament time.
I dont recall Leinart's deal being a huge PR mess. What specifically are you talking about? I don't even think the school addressed it. Matt was already in the NFL when the baby was born and it really wasn't the school's business.

Come on, wuap. No one care about your little HCO dust-ups.

I found them amusing and somewhat believable. I often await his potassium-filled posts with bated breath (but don't tell him I said that).

Actually, I think this could make for a good thread.

It is all in how you measure sucess I guess. WE bask in the glory and PR of public acceptance by winning, whether right or wrong. I don't see the nation talking about us because of great firesides.

                    Back atcha!

Can I add this to my signature? Cause that's some funny shit.

This absolutely drives me batshit crazy. You can't enjoy any season of any sport because you don't just have to hope no one gets injured, you have to hope they're also able to limit their steps on the Sabbath. Fuck.

Since his testicular fortitude can't be brought into question at this point I would have to assume that he would make the decision to finish his collegiate career at a less 'private' school.

fair enough. who was it that said he needed a redshirt year before being a star? he might get that when he transfers!

I'm at my best when I don't think before I post. Frothing at the mouth, Droid in need of a good cleaning. Just release the beast.

The baby's mom was on a USC basketball scholarship when the baby was born, there were child support and visitation issues which became very public and very ugly, and it was all over the local and national media. USC didn't get directly involved, but the PR was very bad for all involved, including the school.
