    You'd be surprised:

I don't understand Brigham Young. Not the man, not the University, not the religion associated with both. I'm not bashing any of them -- just saying, I don't understand them.

But I understand the BYU mission, and at risk of seeming like a naive kid, I love it.

    • How backwards and primitive of a school is BYU? Their Final Four run may have been tanked by a guy drinking a beer. Its 2011!

That's the problem. Mike and Mike reads the honor code and even though they say that I doubt he got kicked out for a cup of coffee everyone else runs with it.

Yes, much like a body is physically unable to enter BYU's campus after being involved in creating an unlicensed life.

I didn't tell myself that. I read about it in the L.A. Times, the New York Times, People magazine, etc...

In contrast you have Mark Shlebech on The Herd this morning saying Davies could have been kicked out for caffeine intake or swearing.

yeah it was in the press but what you are putting forward is that it was bad press for USC. The event was maybe bad press for Leinart but in no way was it bad press for USC. Nobody cared it happened at USC and it did not reflect poorly on the university. You are looking at that event through a BYU lens.

                  • Chris Broussard and Skip Bayless both giving props to BYU and called it refreshing. Broussard said he loved that a school will teach a kid to be a man. They all said that the first line of the honor code, be honest, would keep most coaches in the country from ever being able to coach there. They then asked if the HC will keep them from winning a title. They both said no. They've won one in football and they're close this year. Skip said that before this news about Davies he's not sure there is a better team in the country. Both remarked that BYU is a top program and has been for years.

Oh brother, I wonder how virtuous those guys were in the HC sense when they were 19. I wonder how HC complient their college aged kids are.

Teach a kid to be a man? What about the progress and discipline Brandon Davies has shown? I venture in many ways he knows more about being a man than anyone judging him.

Brousard and Bayless talk to hear their heads roar.

Probably more of a UCLA lens. Living in L.A., I heard a lot of bad stuff regarding USC on the matter. Certainly it made Leinert look the worst, though. Especially when you consider that Paris Hilton was involved.

It will be interesting to see how the whole Davies thing looks in a few months.

                              • I was so upset I called a member of the 12 and told him to talk to Cecil about reinstating Davies. He didn't take me seriously, but I tried.
