Even if you look at it from a religious perspective, the kid is probably not even an Elder yet. He is 19 years old he has not been through the temple. If he were to go to his bishop and say I have been snorting coke off the ass of a 40 year professor. He would not even be disfellowshipped. Yet the honor code office has the right to throw down a harsher punishment then even the kids bishop would? So why don't all students get ecclesiastical endorsements through the HC office?Originally posted by jay santos View PostI absolutely don't claim to believe in any deeper principle relating to eternity that would would be in conflict with keeping a student in school after violating the Honor Code. I think deeper principles relating to eternity dictate that administrators do what they can to help kids stay in school, get there education, get the help they need to overcome problems, etc. Especially minorities at BYU.*Banned*

Belief in The Atonement = rationalization? You and I may belong to the same Church, but we most certainly don't have the same religion.Originally posted by Devildog View PostRationalize all you like."It's true that everything happens for a reason. Belief in the atonement isn't the problem. Your spin on it is what I'm referring to.Originally posted by FMCoug View PostBelief in The Atonement = rationalization? You and I may belong to the same Church, but we most certainly don't have the same religion.
Maybe it it why I struggle with this religion...

This is absolutely true, because if Davies denied it there would have to be an investigation that would have taken at least until the end of the season.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostDavies would have been better off had he lied.
I remember a BYU Bishop telling me he wasn't too hard on the kids who came in and confessed because he knew there were a bunch of kids out there doing the same things who weren't coming in and confessing.
But instead of the honesty making it easier on Davies in this situation, in this case it got him immediately suspended. Worst possible outcome. Damn.

You haven't been around in weeks, but as soon as a BYU player gets kicked off for an HC violation, you're here preaching your bullshit. GTFO. You were not missed.Originally posted by Devildog View PostBelief in the atonement isn't the problem. Your spin on it is what I'm referring to.

Oh I forgot. To most Mormons, belief in Grace and its primary role in the Atonement is "spin" or "rationalization"Originally posted by Devildog View PostBelief in the atonement isn't the problem. Your spin on it is what I'm referring to.
