OK Utah Fans, it's time to ask this question:

I think Andre Miller was the better college player. But it was not your persuasive arguments that brought me to this point, it was the mpfunk airhump!Originally posted by 8BR View PostI don't care, really. Apples and oranges. Different teams, different coaches, etc. They both play the same position, but play it differently. Miller was the floor general of the Finals Team. MOP if they beat UK. Really? Ok...I'm not a coach of basketball, played in high school is all. I don't get into the mechanics today, as I don't want to spend the time and energy on that kind of stuff. (pretty qualified for an opinion eh?)Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI think Andre Miller was the better college player. But...strictly speaking as a fan of basketball, do you really believe that Miller is/was a better college player than Jimmer? Really? I just can't remember Miller EVER doing anything that Jimmer can do. What did Miller do that Jimmer can't? Jimmer can do, most if not all things that Miller could do, it's just the coach probably doesn't ask him to post up, go low etc. (Miller with better size). But, if the coach asked Miller to shoot from Jimmer range, he couldn't do it...pretty sure.
No question - for this position, in my mind, it's Jimmer and it aint close."Newton's First Law of Motion: ...things at rest tend to stay at rest. Things in motion, tend to stay in motion...."
Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

Miller could get a triple double and be the best defender on the defensive end. I love Jimmer, I think he is a great player. I think he should be the NPOY, but I still thought Miller was a better all around player.Originally posted by Borg View PostReally? Ok...I'm not a coach of basketball, played in high school is all. Apples and oranges.
I would say Jimmer has had a far better regular season than Andre ever had, as witnessed by the NPOY buzz and the fact that he is a cultural phenom. Andre clearly had a deeper run in the tourney (to date) and I can sympathize with those who would prefer that memory. It can be argued that the tourney run was a combination of Andre, the coach, a great team, etc., but he certainly did his part."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? I actually think Emery has a shot at the NBA. If he shows well during the tournament and has a series of good games instead of the ones where he doesn't show-up, people will see his speed, defense, and outside shooting ability and his stock could rise dramatically. Most people know him now only as the other guy in BYU's backcourt alongside Jimmer.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostMeh. BYU is poised for a deep run, but an NC is unlikely. When it comes down to brass tacks, a team needs more than one nba ready player on the roster to win the title. I would be happy for our cougar friends to experience the joy of the final four. The memories are still vivid.

Sorry about this Wally. These Cougar Fans should leave this thread and let Ute Fans discuss BYU as the NC.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Seed schmeed. Eventually you have to beat somebody, even if they're on a higher bracket line. That Utah team with Andre did.Originally posted by jay santos View PostIf Jimmer had been on that Utah team instead of Andre, they would have been a #1 seed and favored in all those big upsets they had in their tourney runs.

I am of the belief that Jimmer could get a double doubles (not rebounds for the triple) if he was asked to do so by the coach. It's just a different team, different players and this team needs him in different ways.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostMiller could get a triple double and be the best defender on the defensive end. We've got the bigs to get the rebounds...I don't know if that is/should be part of the equation. Was Andre really needed to get the rebounds to help the team, or was that just a product of his play? (That I can't remember). Jimmer is 'protected' within Rose's game strategy.
He doesn't want Jimmer getting hurt battling for a rebound, he doesn't want him picking up extra fouls, and he doesn't want him expending unnecessary energy fighting for the board when he can let others more better equipped to do that for him and focus/concentrate his energy on the offensive production part of the game plan. Seems like a HIGHLY successful strategy to me.
Jimmer getting a double doubles almost at will if he were asked to do so:
*double digit points
*double digit assists
*rebounds? (nah...not suited, not essential for this team)
*steals? (nah...Jax is the Man here...not essential for this team)
*minutes? (There we go! for the triple double! Points,Assists and Minutes!)"Newton's First Law of Motion: ...things at rest tend to stay at rest. Things in motion, tend to stay in motion...."

I knew you were a turncoat when you admitted to owning a Utah hat back in your youth. That hat is probably the reason you are going bald. karma.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Andre was FTAM before college hoops was as depleted by early NBA entry. I wouldn't call that "far better". Also, his last year Utah went undeafeated all through regular and post season WAC play.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostApples and oranges.

There is no way in hell you believe what you are posting you are not that stupid.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostYou think maybe one of the reasons Majerus didn't run was because he was stuck with a pudgy point guard that couldn't create his own shot?
