That's irresponsible reporting, BO!Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostUtah's in talks with Randy Bennett (according to CSN Bay Area).

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Bennett is an interesting choice, particularly if it is true that Hill reached out during the MWC tourney while St. Marys or at least Bennett's reps were still there...then he high tailed it out of there to start taking care of business in SLC. If it ends up being him, that's a nice smoke screen that hill put up."They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Poor SeattleUte. His Summer of Discontent continues. The Utes are going to be led by someone from the WCC.
Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

March 15, 2011COLLEGE BASKETBALL PAGE SAINT MARY’S PAGE CSNBayArea.com staff Saint Mary’s basketball coach Randy Bennett is a leading candidate to fill the vacancy at the University of Utah, and according to a source there have been preliminary talks between Utah’s athletic administration and representatives from Bennett’s camp. No timeline has been identified for the discussions, but the conversations likely…"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

I think SeattleUte will be happy with this hire, if it really is Randy Bennett. He isn't a perfect hire, but not one really is a perfect hire for the Utes. He has a nice resume and his teams at St Marys have overachieved.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI told a certain Ute CUFer this same thing this morning. SU's head would explode.
Between the Bogut legacy and Randy Bennett the Utes will get every single Aussie recruit that we want, which is a nice recruiting bonus.
If Bennett is talking to Utah he is interested. He already has his contract extension and he isn't going to be using Utah as leverage to earn a higher paycheck. I didn't think Randy Bennett was really in play, but Utah got a big assist from the tournament selection committee. St Marys was tied for 1st in the WCC and got to the WCC championship game and got snubbed. He moves to the Pac-10 and he is pretty much guaranteed a spot in the dance if he finishes in the top 4. In the WCC he can finish 1st and still not make it.
If this works out, thank you tournament selection committee. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Interesting though that Cal passed him up when he seemed a great fit. Granted they landed Mike Montgomery but still. Shouldn't Utah be able to do better?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

SU will be happy, but not until the hire is made. SU will likely go into many depositions until the hire is announced, and then he will come out and laud the man chosen, regardless of background or experience.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI think SeattleUte will be happy with this hire, if it really is Randy Bennett.
LA Ute will do the same, except he will say positive things about each and every possible candidate just so he can be on record as saying he supported ______ from the very beginning.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I like how this thread was "Ute fans should be satisfied with Dave Rice" a week ago, and now it's "Randy Bennett is ok, but there are better candidates".Originally posted by Surfah View PostI think Randy Bennett is a great coach. He's a California guy.

I have predicted it will be either Randy Bennett or Blaine Taylor. I would be very happy with either one of them. I think Randy Bennett is the most likely at this point.
Benett has done miracles at a school like St. Mary's that has nothing, literally nothing going for it. 3,000 students, a smattering of alumni, no money, mediocre academics. (WCC schools like St. Mary's and Gonzaga are places where upper middle class people send their misbehaving and underachieving children to get baby sat. Maybe BYU will fit in well.)When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
