I'm on record saying I don't want Rose at Utah. I'd rather have Stew.
So Utah is hiring a second-tier WCC coach? I guess the big names don't view Utah as a great destination.

Outright titles mean nothing. The trophy sitting in Legacy Hall does not say "shared with ________". Also Dave Roses resume does not mention anything about "shared titles" it mentions conference championships and that is it. Trying to diminish what he has done because he has shared a conference title is the weakest argument I have seen yet.

He should have laughed out loud. Utah could offer him the job and offer to triple his salary and he would turn it down. Now if Weber St came calling, Stew would be all over that job. Disco Stew is all about taking steps down.

I'm not trying to diminish what Rose has done. I agree with you that he is 2nd to no one in the last 5 years in conference play. Of course, I would take UNLV's last 5 years any day over what BYU has done and if I was able to pick any MWC coach it would be Lon Kruger.

The oddest thing about that setup...the players dont walk through the smoke (if that is what you want to call that). Everyone is off to the side. As a player is introduced, the little fog machine lets out a small burp. There is a guy on the other side of the court that ensures that nobody trips over the extension cords.

I took that pic at the Jimmer game. I wish the pic captured sound, as well. The noise was fantastic....just as you would envision. Not an explosive "WHOOSH"....more like a brief, barely-audible "psssh," like a tire that is slowly leaking or a balloon that is deflating. Very symbolic actually.

I would take the Utah job over the Utah State job in a heartbeat.

Sorry, BYU fans. Just being honest!

You do realize that Jimmers sophomore year he was not the leading scorer on the team right? Yet BYU still won the conference championship.

Yet Lon Kruger couldn't beat Ernie Kent, who you think is an awful coach.

Don't confuse him with facts. He will take Lon Krugers MWC tournament titles all day long. It does not matter that they came at home. Lon is the better coach because he just is. He even coached in the NBA, which was the exact argument he gave for why Boylen would be better than Rose.

Ernie Kent is an awful coach. He is an amazing recruiter and can win based on recruits alone. By the way, I think Kent would be a great hire for Wyoming but that Oregon made the right decision firing him.

I do think the most entertaining thing about an Ernie Kent coached team was watching them warm up. I have never seen a more convoluted and complicated warm up routine. It was even more baffling when the offense that they ran was less complicated than the warm up routine.

Nah, I don't give a damn about those conference tournament titles, I covet the NCAA tournament wins. Now Rose does have a chance to surpass him in my eyes this year if he gets to the sweet 16.

                              Link?

With Boylen, I said that NBA ties are a positive for a coach and I don't think that is a crazy position. I also said that hiring Boylen was a huge risk.

As for Kruger, I think he is the better coach because of you know little things like taking 3 different programs to the sweet 16, taking 2 programs to the elite 8, and playing in the final four. You know, little things like that.

You sure like to talk out of both sides of your mouth. I just did a search on CB for your name and "Boylen" one minute he is a great coach, better than even Dave Rose (This was in 2010 you said this) because of how well he developed Nevill over Rose developing Plaisted. Then you say Boylen is the 4th best coach in the MWC but has a chance to leap Rose. Then a month earlier you say you do not like Boylen and you are not sold on him.

Although nothing tops your 100+ posts on Wrubell and Wyoming running up the score against Utah.

I think once Boylen gets things fixed at Utah, it will be Utah, UNLV, and BYU who battle it out for the conference crown each year.
2 out of 3 are not bad Funk.

Here is a gem from Topute during the 2008 when talking about how BYU reloads not rebuilds.

You're going to dominate the MWC with ...
... seven players, three of whom essentially play the same position? That's a nice trick that I'll believe when I see it.
He also goes on to call Fredette a project with no offers, says that Emery will not be very good, and questions the chances of BYU landing Tyler Haws.

Not sure who is worse Funk or TOpute.
