My little brother walked on his freshman year (1990). He made the gray squad and got in a few games. He was tied for the lead in 3 pt FG% in the country (3/3). I got home from my mission in November of that year. His first comment to me was "I learned more basketball in my first week than I had learned up to that point. I also learned a completely new vocabulary." Utah last in Seattle in the tourney that year. My brother had his arm broken plating in the national rugby championship in the spring and the left on a mission. 2 years later he tried to walk on again but didn't make it.Originally posted by Surfah View PostSpeaking of which was I the only one who didn't know Hostile had a brother who played under Majerus?
Alright Hostile, tell us some stories!"You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

This is not the first time I've heard from someone who played for Majerus express concern about Boylen. Very credible people area calling this a huge mess. That's what clinches it for me. Who's defending Boylen? Utefans scofflaws and mooches who have eaten free pizzas he's financed. It makes me think BYU fans are right that for many Utes it's all about the beer and the in-game or Ute event parties, not the tradition and the game.Originally posted by hostile View PostMy little brother walked on his freshman year (1990). I never got free pizza from Boylen! Maybe it is because I am more of a ne'er-do-well than a scofflaw.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThis is not the first time I've heard from someone who played for Majerus express concern about Boylen. Is there anyone out there defending Boylen at this point? I hope not. The program is completely unrecognizable right now. It's a disaster. I hope he's fired before the season's out.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThis is not the first time I've heard from someone who played for Majerus express concern about Boylen. Seriously, he made his fate when he kicked his two leading scorers and more off the team last offseason. I said then, right here, that he better know what he's doing, because he's undone three years of work. Of course then he went out and loaded up on JUCOS. Rule of thumb is two JUCOs max on any team. That gave him no room for error.Originally posted by 8BR View PostIs there anyone out there defending Boylen at this point? I hope not. The program is completely unrecognizable right now. Boylen can't reel in players. He couldn't lay down the law with Henderson early, never had Carlon Brown adjust his expectations and gave Tavita too much unjustified PT early. Now I'm not shedding tears over Tavita, but Brown and Henderson should be key parts of this year's team.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostSeriously, he made his fate when he kicked his two leading scorers and more off the team last offseason. I've also heard (albeit second-hand) from another ex-Majerus player -- and a damn good one at that -- that the sense of responsibility and accountability under Boylen is totally absent when it comes to the little things that makes teams winners. Players screw up and nothing happens. Boylen's fate was sealed long before Henderson and Brown left or were kicked off.

You know, we're trying to change that and broaden the fan base. For the AF game my son wanted to take a bunch of friends from school. Since his birthday is around the holidays and it is difficult to schedule a "friend's birthday party" we thought it would be fun. Tickets were easy to get and we sat with my brothers and their boys who are my son's age. We live in Sugarhouse and the elementary school boundary includes the University Village apartments, which is home to many foreign graduate students, some of whose children go to school with my son. His birthday party was a mini-UN with kids from India, South Korea and a Sudanese refugee. All had a great time despite the craptastic play - they know when to boo at the ref and yell when the other team is shooting freethrows. We're winning their hearts and minds (pepperoni pizza and hot dogs help) and spreading Utah basketball worldwide.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostIts essentially the Senioritis and Hostile famililes with a few other fans sprinkled in."You interns are like swallows. I went to Utah basketball games as a youth at what was then called the Special Events Center.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostIts like the Utes very own missionary program.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

That sounds like an awesome birthday party for a little dude. Really cool idea. Sure beats hanging out in a basement playing games.Originally posted by hostile View PostYou know, we're trying to change that and broaden the fan base. It has absolutely nothing to do with your posts. It has to do with taking over a team that was 81-101 the past six years, making them 13-9 (5-5 Big East) so far in his FIRST YEAR, and this:Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI notice that you have recently been speaking very positively of Lavin. It has to do with results. Take a look at what Lavin has done in ONE YEAR and tell me we should be patient with this train wreck Boylen has caused in four years. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
