Carlino's not LDS.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Matt Carlino, Michael Loyd, Anson Winder, Charles Abouo. All 4 would start and be the best player on Utahs team.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostTheus a wash-out? Now that's some funny stuff right there.
If Rice was all that as a recruiter, he'd land a non-LDS kid here and there. Would he have landed the LDS kids you mentioned if he were at Utah? If your answer to that is an unqualified no, then why would we want him? What difference is he capable of making at Utah?*Banned*

Carlino is a transfer who you don't know a damn thing about. Winder and Abouo are not better than Clyburn in any way. If Clyburn was on BYU he would be a starter.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostMatt Carlino, Michael Loyd, Anson Winder, Charles Abouo. If he was the head coach at Utah he wouldn't be stealing any of those recruits from Dave Rose especially the likes of Fredette, Harrison, Haws, and Collinsworth. Recruiting would potentially be one of the major problems with hiring Rice because he isn't stealing away Rose's recruits. He would have to learn an entirely new recruiting base at Utah.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostExactly the coach in charge of recruiting at BYU that has landed Jimmer Fredette, Damarcus Harrison, Tyler Haws, Kyle Collinsworth, Matt Carlino, etc. would not be a good fit for Utah. The fact that if he was coaching at a school that was not a religious institution like BYU and would have a legit shot at landing Shabazz Muhammad and ROscoe Allen should not be considered either. Also he is the architect of BYUs offense an offense that has ranked in the top 10 nationally every year since he has been on the staff. None of that would make the utes better, in fact they would be much better off hiring a washout like Theus from New Mexico st. or a drunk like Billy Gillespie. At least those guys would better be able to relate to the fans up there.
All these things that your are saying about Rice are the same type of things that Michigan St fans were saying about Boylen. Tireless recruiter, brought great talent to Michigan St, etc. There is a huge difference between being an assistant recruiting and being the closer. BYU gets those LDS recruits because of Rose and because of their religious affiliation, not because of Rice.
How exactly is Theus a washout? He was successful at the college game and left for an NBA job.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Only if he lost some weight. Here in Provo we like 'em damn near emaciated.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostCarlino is a transfer who you don't know a damn thing about. You just keep topping yourself. Carlino hasn't done a damn thing yet. Loyd isn't even one of your own anymore (like we're supposed to be impressed with players who brought to BYU, but couldn't get to buy into the HC?), I have no idea who Winder is, and I'll take Shaun Glover ahead of Abouo every day and twice on Sunday.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostMatt Carlino, Michael Loyd, Anson Winder, Charles Abouo. That is why Utah will continue to suck because Boylen agrees with you that Glover is better than Abouo and never offered him.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostYou just keep topping yourself. Winder is from Bishop Gorman and is a future stud.
The fact that Carlino had more offers than every Ute player combined tells me all I need to know about him.
Loyd did more in 1 season than that whole Ute team will do their entire careers. In fact in 1 season he is going to win more games than Clyburn will in his career.*Banned*

Kyle Collinsworth is better than Clyburn already if he was the best player on a team he would easily put up 18 and 10. But he is the 5th best player on BYUs team and is asked to play a role. Clyburn is not a good enough shooter to play on this BYU team. He is a lackluster defender and pounds the ball to much. Him and Zylstra are pretty much interchangeable.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostOnly if he lost some weight. Here in Provo we like 'em damn near emaciated.*Banned*

LA, here is my short list for Dr. Hill:
1) Ben Howland
2) Tom Crean
3) Billie Gillispie
4) Trent Johnson
5) Mark Few
VERBOTEN: Anyone from BYU's staff particularly Dave Rose; Reggie Theus; anyone lacking head coaching experienceWhen a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

You and I differ on that opinion but I agree with just about everything else. Clyburn's issue is strength and he lacks any. He has a silky smooth shot coveted by most coaches and defensive skills just as equally lamented by those same coaches. I think he would play at BYU but KC would probably still start based on size and strength.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostKyle Collinsworth is better than Clyburn already if he was the best player on a team he would easily put up 18 and 10. Winder has never played a single DI game. Carlino washed out at UCLA, which doesn't mean he won't be successful at BYU but it also doesn't mean he is great (despite the offers). You do know that occasionally people miss on prospects don't you?Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostThat is why Utah will continue to suck because Boylen agrees with you that Glover is better than Abouo and never offered him.

That is great Utah will not come close to touching any of those 5 except maybe the alcoholic Gillespie but even then he may not come because of the 3.2% beer.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostLA, here is my short list for Dr. Hill:

Sorry Ute fans but your expectations are way to high. Stick with Kerry Rupp or Randy Rahe because that is as good as you are going to get. Utah is not a premier job it never has been and never will be. The only good news is that you are going to an inferior conference than the MWC so you may actually be able to finish in the top half one in awhile.*Banned*
