Maybe my appreciation of a loyal, hard working coach makes me a moron. Maybe your failure to appreciate these qualities makes you an ass. Who's to say?
    Maybe you've been manipulated.

Utah can get a fine coach. Your defeatism sickens me.

If we can, great! If not, having Boylen around another year will not be a detriment to the long term viability of the team. If anything it shows potential candidates that they are not coming in to face unreasonable expectations.

I think that most fans would have the patience if we were seeing some sort of consistency, some sort of identity that we could hang our hopes on. We need to see that there is a light at the end of that tunnel. Nothing about this season(or last) gives you any hope that the future will change. We have more talented pieces this year, yet the results are slightly worse. This team hasn't packed it in which is about the only change from last year's results( and there is still 8 games to see that happen).

What are you talking about? I don't know where this mythology that Utah can't hire a competent coach comes from. I also don't know why people think a coach who knows he's good would be scared to coach at Utah now. Boylen has had four years and the program is going nowhere but down.

Our expectations are not unreasonable. The guy has totally destroyed the program. He's the worst Utah basketball coach in my lifetime, easily. He's incompetent. Proctor and Gamble would fire an incompetent CEO. Delta would fire an incompetent pilot. Boylen is incompetent and he has to go. He's not just a meter reader.

Regardless, Utah has never hired a big name. They don't need to go out and get a Lavin to turn the program around. That's never how it's been done. However, there are at least a few candidates who will one day make great coaches who would love to have the job. Chris Hill's job is to find one of them. the past two attemps he has totally screwed up, so maybe the odds are on his side now.

I don't know but I'll be amazed if he's still the HC at Utah six weeks from now.

What's unreasonable about expecting a better track record than what we've experienced the last seven years? It's not like we're in the ACC, where those marks could still get you in the tournament in possibly all of those years. We're as irrelevant as we've ever been doing what we've done in the MWC.

Coaches know you're not for long if you lose at home at the rate Boylen has in his entire career at Utah. They know the game. And any coach worth his salt won't shy away from being expected to win 4 of 5 (or better) at home, because every coach knows winning just 2 of 3 at home is unacceptable at almost every major program in the country.

It's funny that I only hear the line of "Our expectations are too high and they scare off coaches" from those who defend coaches who have fallen woefully short of the benchmark set by their predecessors. What are we supposed to do -- ignore everything Utah hoops has done over the last 100 years? That's where the benchmark was set.

If anything, having Boylen around another year lowers the standard, and makes it easier to tolerate "medicore" results with the next coach (and my mediocre, I mean 18-20 wins every year, without ever taking the next step to being a great team).

Expecting Majerus level success at Utah is unreasonable and I don't see a lot of fans expecting that anymore. Utah certainly deserves better than what Boylen is giving us.

Explain to me how a school and their fans "deserve" more? Utah fans do not even show up anymore. The student section at basketball games is downright embarrassing. How do they deserve more? If you had 13000 strong at every game supporting the team then maybe I could see how they deserved a winning product because of all the support they were giving them. But the fact is they don't support the team. Hell you live 20 miles away when was the last time you attended a basketball game? I am guessing most of your fellow fans are in the same boat.

Its essentially the Senioritis and Hostile famililes with a few other fans sprinkled in.

Utah puts a product on the court worth watching and I'll go to the games. Boylen/Giac have destroyed Ute basketball for me. I guess if I was rich, I would consider wasting my money on Ute basketball.

Maybe deserve is the wrong word. Utah can do better than what Boylen is giving us right now.
