  • Boylen

Any Ute basketball recruiting news/rumors? As far as I'm concerned Boylen is still on probation this year. I can sometimes understand a losing season. But I'm still in shock at his changing out most of the team and three years of recruiting work for JUCOs after three years on the job. What he puts in the pipeline this year should weigh heavily in Hill's decisions re Boylen.

Why would Bronco's Defensive Coordinator care about Boylen?

This year is a win/win for Utah hoops, IMO. If Boylen wins with guys he's recruited, then that bodes well for the future and more cache as Utah heads to the Pac 10. If it is another shit the bed type season, then a better coach can be brought in because the school is headed to the Pac 10.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I forgot to mention he has no excuses now the Utes are in the Pac 10 and BYU committed basketball sepukku.

Put Dave Rose on the short list of coaching candidates...

What recruiting news could possibly exist? We graduate only one senior next season in Jay Watkins, and RM Adam Sharp will take that available scholarship. Never mind we're completely lacking in glass-eating forwards once he leaves -- my guess is between Sharp or someone else leaving, that's where our "recruiting news" will come in. Because right now, there's no room at the inn.

No doubt ... he can go from the WCC to the Pac-10 without having to move his family. And he can bring Tyler Haws with him!

He is spending all his time recruiting Nick Emery and Tyler Haws' younger brother. He thinks he has a good chance of landing them.

In all honesty one has to wonder about him if what I read about him pursuing those two is really true. Principally, I am convinced that he can find kids as good, or better, out of state. These type of kids come to BYU really fundamentally sound and well coached but not with the "upside" that is spoken of with such sincere reverence. Secondly, the closer it gets to signing the LOI the more mamma's influence will be felt. Right now she lets the boys play and enjoy their time basking in "the unversal dream, for those who wish to be....."but when it gets time to choose a school "they will not doubt their mother's knew."

I could understand Jimbo believing Tyler Haws liked what he was doing up on the Hill, but if he falls for Nick Emery's promises to be open minded about Utah again, then he might be stupid. Being stupid is worse than being ignorant.

One thing I've learned about Utefans. Give those guys free food and they'll love you forever.

That's how I'm looking at it. Boylen needs to win this year or he should be replaced.

Put me in the skeptical column. Has a head coach in a major sport ever moved from Utah or BYU to the other school?

This situation is unlike any other in the history of the rivalry. If Juddy can go coach women's hoops at BYU, Dave Rose is smart enough to further his career without moving his family -- or at least strongly consider it. Of course, such consideration is for Dr. Hill to decide.
