  • I think there are lots of reasons for Chapman to go to Utah. Close to home. It's familiar. He gets to play in a great conference against NBA talent. Significantly less pressure than someplace like Arizona or UCLA. He can be part of a turnaround if they're successful.

That said I still think it is a bit of an odd choice. He and Loveridge essentially play the same position. I think Chapman's coming forces Loveridge back underneath as Chapman seems best suited on the wing. I am interested to see if the much lighter Loveridge is as effective down low, on the boards and getting to the line. Regardless those are two good pieces to build around.

Larry convinced him that he could be part of the resurgence. Regarding intelligence, you still cheer for BYU. I'll just leave that right here.

        What a dumb recruiting pitch.

"Listen son, I know we have been bad for a long time. But if you come and play for us you can help us return to glory. Imagine winning 15 games your freshman year, exploding for 17 wins your sophomore year and who knows just maybe by your senior year we can get those coveted 20 wins and possibly a CBI berth. I want to be honest with you, I doubt I will still be here by the time you are an upper classman and on average you will have 7-8 new teammates every year. Most of them will be JC castoffs that nobody else wanted but don't worry if you come play for us none of that will matter. You will be a legend in the eyes of the 412 fans that actually show up to home games. Brekkott, do you want to be a legend? With you and Jordan "Oliver Miller" Loveridge I promise we can get to 17 wins."

"But coach BYU is really recruiting me hard, they have back to back top 10 recruiting classes and I love what they are doing down there. Coach Rose is a great coach and his offense better fits my game. What kid doesn't want to run and play in an uptempo offense where you have the green light to shoot whenever you want. Not to mention my best friend Dalton Nixon has committed to play there and I grew up playing with the Lone Peak boys. They are building something special down there and that is really hard to pass up."

"Brekott, I understand all of that. BYU would be hard for me to pass up if I were still playing. Take it from me I played 12 seasons in the NBA, playing uptempo wasn't all that great. So maybe every single NBA team runs these days and the best offensive teams win championships. But I assure you that will change, we play a grind it out style at Utah and trust me scouts will adjust your stats accordingly. We might only score 52 points a game and you may only average 9 per in your career. But scouts understand you will be playing without a true point guard, and that we will not run a single offensive set in 4 years. 9 points a game will be like 30 at any other school. In fact I would argue that 9 points a game should win you national player of the year in our system. You could be our version of Jimmer!"

"Wow Coach that sounds great. I can't wait to play on a bad team for 4 years, get my head kicked in by BYU every time I play them, watch my friends celebrate multiple NCAA appearences, Conference titles, and cut down the nets in Indianapolis. When they show me those championship rings, I will be sure to fire back with my CBI participant T-shirt and the fact that I was part of the resurgence of Utah basketball that is something nobody can take away from me"

"Brekott you have made the right decision son, I won't be here to see you graduate with that degree in recreation management but I am sure I will stay at one of the motel 6s you are managing sometime in the future".

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

A resurgence that may never happen versus being with a program that is already there. Dude must be smoking weed.

It seems they should consider it a business proposition. Which one furthers their sports goals best. Arizona plays in the same conference and is a far better program. Case closed.

Now if you questioned your ultimate basketball ability andStanford comes calling. Case closed.

Any reasonably minded and business minded individual would make those choices.

Family can come to see him in Arizona. It is a short flight.

Feeling feisty today, eh? I challenge you to a duel. Your choice of weapons. SU will be my second.

Fine for every Ute loss in ball, you give me ten dollars and for every win I give you five.

                    • Like I said Dave Rose does not lose Utah County kids. Ryan Andrus commits to BYU.

6'10 PF/C from American Fork. He is a bit of a project averaged 19 points and 6 rebounds last year. Should be interesting to see how Dave Rose uses him. Andrus had offers from Utah and Utah State.

Larry K had been on this kid since the day he was hired, Stew Morrill just as long. Dave Rose offered him on June 18th and the Andrus family felt like he was way to late. The magnetic pull of The Big Mac is just too strong when you grow up in its shadows.

I don't see him playing anything but the 5 at BYU. Take an average of these tall white stiffs, some effective some not, and that's about what you get with this kid in terms of height, athleticism, and skill: Trost, Fish, Miles, Dawes, James Anderson.

                          They're brainwashed.

                          This one's a big stiff.
