He came back and took us to the Sweet 16 and a 1 loss season in the MWC in 2005 (beat top ten Oklahoma in the second round). Made Giacoletti look like a great coach. Jackson was one of my favorite players ever at Utah.

The irony is I love Majerus, but he and Jackson absolutely hated each other. It was sad.

Look, you know damn good and well these MWC "honorable mentions" and such are totally corrupt, subjective, circumstantial. Henderson may get honorable mention if the Utes beat UNLV, BYU and New Mexico at home, which they may.

Neville is an interesting comparison. He averaged 12.1 ppg on a much worse team.

Because he has one good game against TCU doesnt change my opinion of him.
You aren't helping my claims that you aren't the BYU version of Top Ute. You simply cannot say a single good thing about any player for Utah in any sport. The point is that you have said he isn't even close to a DI player (see there are 12 players just like him at Snow College and none of them is getting a scholarship).

I'm not saying Henderson is great, but he has talent and he has potential to be a very good player for the Utes. Also, he has had more than one good game against TCU this year. He has shown flashes in several games.

junkie said similar things about Brian Johnson.

I've got to defend junkie a bit here. I recall him making several positive statements about Ute football players during this season. Particularly the receivers and others. He gave them props when they performed well.

if all you take in to consideration is points per game then yes. But the measure of good player is in all facets of his game.

                Justin Hawkins
                Tim Drisdom

I would add Britton Johnson as a hell of a productive freshman as well.

                  .

That's gonna hurt when Utah's most productive freshman in 15 years loses out on the MWC freshman of the year award to a Utah County kid for BYU.

BJ was a key to the Final 2 run. He caught fire in the NCAA playoffs. But he struggled mightily all year before that, and had early stretches of inconsequence.

When I said productive I simply meant generating numbers on a stat sheet.

Of course I had forgotten Bogut. But I think the only rivals besides him (on the stated basis) is Neville.

That would be meaningless. It would also be untrue, since I forgot Bogut, and maybe Neville. In any event, that contest is far from over. Henderson and Haws are pretty comparable excecpt Haws has more help right now, including a decent point guard feeding him the ball. Henderson has scored more points and Haws is slumping. If Utah finishes strong and BYU fades, it could be a different story. Unlike the typical BYU fan I never assume a snapshot in time is a permanent state of affairs.

Henderson: 12.1 ppg, 2.5 reb, 0.9 assists 38% FG, 35% 3 pt FG, plays no defense, on an irrelevant team

Haws: 11.5 ppg, 4.6 reb, 1.3 assists, 53% FG, 40% 3 pt FG, solid defense, on the conference champion

                          You decide.

                            I would take Haws.

Even if he looks like one of those mini trolls that you'd jam a pencil up its rear end and twist it really fast to make it's hair go all crazy. Aah, high school.

Henderson's going to make some of the Cougar homers here look really, really, ridiculously stupid before he's done, but I'd take the fauxHaws. Wish Boylen wouldn't have wasted time recruiting him.

lol it's like a tick with you. There you go again. You already assume BYU will be the champion with all those games left to play. The BYU mindset is constantly, jarringly being reminded that they are not the center of the world, they are largely irrelevant. But their resiliance is their most astonishing characteristic--they always get up off the floor and carry on, believing the world begins and ends with and revolves around them.

I think both Haws and Henderson are in trouble for MWC freshman of the year.

Kawhi Leonard of SDSU is putting up really good numbers:

                                12.4ppg 9.5 rpg, 1.9apg 1.3spg 46%fg, 70% ft.
