Nobody here was doing that-- I just vaguely have seen some things on what remains of Conservative Twitter, etc. To the contrary of my previous attempted pith, the vast majority of Biden's EOs are proactive administrative things- not things just undoing what Trump did, other than trans military service, child separation, environmental issues, etc."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

You've made this claim, that the mob was intent on murdering the Veep and members of congress, multiple times. On what basis do you make this claim? I haven't read anywhere that stated that was the mob's "intent". Perhaps I'm not reading the right sources?Originally posted by BlueK View Post
Trump just tried to overthrow our entire Constitution by nearly destroying the legislative branch of government through egging on a violent mob intent on murdering the vice president and any other member of Congress they could find. Only by the grace of God, IMO, did it not turn out to be a huge tragedy. Then he sat for HOURS doing nothing to stop it. Politically it's by far the worst thing any US president has ever done.

I've read that and heard that in several different places. I'm surprised you haven't. Not saying that you're not paying attention, I've just heard that many times. The crowd teeming into the capitol chanting "hang Mike Pence", the gallows erected outside the capitol, the idiots equipped with those plastic handcuff things...the visual of that is stunning in my mind. Maybe they weren't there to kill Mike Pence, but they weren't there to jump around, smear feces on the walls, and leave. They were out for blood.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View Post

If they'd gotten Nancy Pelosi to that gallows, I have little doubt they would have tried to string her up.Originally posted by originalsocal View Post

For starters: They were all chanting "Hang Mike Pence" in unison. And they set up a makeshift gallows.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View Post

I didn't add it to the list, but Fox had a story also saying the same thing -- at least on their website. Their website isn't great in terms of accuracy and fair coverage but it's way better than the TV channel. The people on the TV channel have been trying to talk about anything but January 6th since the riot happened.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostBFM, where do you get your news?

You can argue and disagree with the analysis of the events on different sources, but what is most aggravating to me about Fox is how blatantly they distort by completely ignoring news that is too hard to spin in Trump's favor. That said, obviously I don't know that Fox is BFM's preferred source or if it's more that he mostly doesn't follow certain kinds of news like a lot of people don't. It's just not that hard to imagine a primarily Fox viewer would have totally missed a few key elements of the attack on the Capitol.Last edited by BlueK; 02-10-2021, 12:06 AM.

Just kidding. My primary news source is the Wall Street Journal. But your guess that I mostly don't follow certain kinds of news is correct in this particular case. Since January 6 I've largely avoided news of the Capitol attack because I find the attack and the perpetrators to be nauseating. I didn't know that they had a gallows or that they were chanting to hang the Veep.

There's no way in hell that Steve Schmidt would ever get elected in Utah, regardless of what party he runs under. If Mike Lee is truly their top target (and I hope he is), this is a terrible strategy.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
That is dumb. They need to try to primary him. No way in hell a democrat can get elected in Utah to the senate.

I see this as the lowest point in US history in my lifetime. I've thought about getting a picture framed of the Capitol in mayhem to put in my office as a remembrance of how bad things can get.

Out of curiosity, how many of you have sent a message to Mike Lee's office via his website? I have done this with politicians who represent me often for the past few years.

I do this for two reasons. First, as someone who used to work in a politician's office, they do take stock of phone calls and communications from constituents. The office kept track of the topic and for/against of any call. People who send communications to politicians have an outsized impact. More than those who don't.

I also do it because, if I request a response back (which I always do), it forces them to etch their stance in writing. This is useful to send back if they contradict themselves later.

Not that any of this will change or affect what Lee does, but I'm curious if I'm the only middle aged dude to regularly do this.

His responses are obviously trite and canned.
