I have been thinking that for a while now, since seeing how much was donated to the LP, even before the reports of how much went into their own pockets.

For the life of me I can’t understand why anyone would donate to a group like this. So they can make slick anti-Trump ads online that are going to be watched mostly by people who already agree with the message? Donating to political parties I understand. But the Lincoln Project was quite the niche market.Originally posted by UVACoug View Post“Grifters” seems like a good description of the Lincoln Project. Accordingly to this article, they raised about $90 million ... and almost $70 million of it went straight into the pockets of the founders.

Hey now, I think some prominent CSers donated to them. PAC was one of them I think. It was a bit of a unique niche market to have long-standing Republicans fight against their own party's nominee so I get the intrigue. But stuff like this definitely stinks of "opportunity" and looks like, while they certainly did some good work, they "earned" a lot of money from this endeavor. Also, I still can't understand them going after Susan Collins. If anyone donated to them after they did that, then they certainly deserve to have their money wasted.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View Post

Mitt is the only politician to whom I've given money and it was during his presidential run. I think I gave him around $100.Originally posted by BigPiney View Post

I learned the hard way. I never thought donating something like 20 bucks would generate that many emails.Originally posted by BigPiney View Post

Yes, I donated enthusiastically to The Lincoln Project nearly a year ago as I liked the idea of a few relatively normal Republicans (e.g., George Conway) seeking to wrest control of the GOP from the Trumpists. Over time, especially in the month or two before the election, I thought TLP went off the rails in its vitriolic messaging. I was also very unimpressed by Steve Schmidt who spoke to my fall class on the election. I now find him contemptible. I didn't donate after my initial contribution, modest though it was. And fret not, NWC...

I'm against Mike Lee as well but I don't agree with most of the Humans Against Mike Lee tenets. Maybe I should start a "Humans Against Mike Lee But Not With Humans Against Mike Lee" group?Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
