Trump's absence from the campaign trail (i.e., no rallies) for the next couple of weeks reduces his chance of winning, but it gives him some additional cover for a loss that appears to be increasingly likely. Instead of focusing only on election fraud, he'll be blaming the "China virus," which won't be good for Asian Americans and immigrants.

Mike Lee and the president of Notre Dame have now tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. There's a video of Lee yukking it up and hugging people at the meeting with Amy Barrett, sans mask of course. And a bunch of other republicans doing the same.

What a complete and utter shit show. Someone a couple of days ago (Cowboy?) said they were scared to death of both Trump and Biden. I don't even understand this. Right now, there is one national party who marching in lockstep with their leader about COVID-19, eschewing even the simplest mitigation strategies. That is being broadcast to the nation at large. It is in no way an exaggeration that people are dying because of it.

That party is not the Democrats.

The mere fact that Trump is a total shitshow does not make Biden a good candidate for president. Better than Trump? Sure. But there are plenty of reasons to lament the fact that Biden is the only alternative. I know that takes some nuance to process and understand. And that’s hard for people who like to see the world in black and white because it’s easier that way.

But I read through a loooong twitter thread about how brave and graceful he was for standing up to the bully, how he was so amazing for overcoming a stutter. You mean the primaries that nominated a centrist Biden? Seems like when it counted, they were pretty serious.

One data point. One party doesn’t take COVID-19 seriously. The one thing that touches everything in the US, and Trump’s party plays games with it.
