Law doesn't make sense most of the time to normal people. And by normal I mean non-lawyers. But Biden didn't write a law because the president can't. Without congress doing it he's stuck trying to cover as many as possible using the current regs already in place. That means exceptions for where they already existed under the OSHA and other regs they are using. Invent something new just so everyone can be covered and you've handed the court the way to throw everything out.

Do you really think he doesn't want some workers vaccinated? But doing it this way will make it very difficult to be overturned by the courts because they're within the existing regs the courts have already been fine with. You can't make a credible argument that protecting against a dangerous airborne disease at work isn't ok to include in the current osha regs but something about lead based paint, or something like that is. They probably took three months just to figure out how to cover as many as possible and make it legally airtight. I know we're not used to that kind of thing after 4 years of fly by the seat of the pants of morons.

Also keep in mind the way most of the conservatives on the Supreme Court are wired, for better or worse, mostly worse, is to be very excessively pro-executive branch.

It definitely doesn’t make sense, even if it’s airtight within current rules. It’s a virus that impacts everyone so it’s just weird that one group gets an exception at all. Seems like a different government entity could claim they also don’t have to follow the mandate of the USPS doesn’t have to follow it, barring the Usps having a valid reason to be exempt.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I disagree. If the last election taught us anything, it's that the Republican Party, more than Democrats, needs the middle, swing voters, like you and me. Bill Maher liberals. I'm reading on Twitter that Biden is doing this to permanently alienate us ("suburbanites," though I don't live in a suburb). I share Biden's frustration, so I believe his frustration is genuine, but I do believe that Republican mainstream opposition to the mandates will permanently drive many of us from the GOP.

The Republican Party has been engaging in much risky behavior. Trump, opposition to same sex marriage, complete lack of charity for dreamers, climate change denial. Meanwhile democrats haven't actually sworn off capitalism. Antivaxx support may be when the Republican Party finally puts the gun in its mouth and blows off the back of its head. A bloody mess of brains for us to clean up. But it may be a mercy kill, for the best.

The president doesn't and shouldn't have the power by himself to just declare something applies to everyone outside of laws that already exist. I worry that the expectation of so many Americans today is for a president who can do anything. Heaven help us if Trump comes back because this time we will have a legit dictator and the guardrails will no longer hold, IMO. It's not a joke that the Hillary "lock her up" chant has evolved into his nutjob fascist supporters pulling it out for anyone Trump complains about in his speech.

In the spirit of the Texas abortion vigilante bill, I'm looking for legislation allowing any private citizen to sue any anti-vaxxer who contributes to the spread of Covid..Bring it on,.

By the way, this order would require either vaccinations or weekly testing so can we please stop claiming it is forced vaccination? Your body, your choice.

I am as pro-vaccine as anyone. To the point that I actively discuss with friends/family that happen to be anti-vaccine to try to convince them. That being said, you all really don't see any constitutional issues with this mandate?

Nor is this "burden" the same as forcing a woman to bear an unwanted baby.
