It wasn't just the elderly we were worried about.

This was the messaging the whole government should have been unified with from day one. These talking points should have been repeated every day. It wasn't just about your grandmother, it was about you if and when you needed hospital care.
This is the whole "flatten the curve" concept. Which makes sense, to be honest. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it was an issue of poor communication or an issue of poor understanding, or a combination of both - but the anti-max, anti-vax, anti-distancing, anti-etc. crowd have crowed about how the lockdowns were only supposed to be for 2 weeks - and that the curve would be flattened and we could quickly return to normal. They also tend to be the ones who cry about restrictions being about government wanting control and wanting to exercise power rather than any concern for the American public.

It was a Trump and GOP and FoxNews and AB created problem. This starts and ends with them. They’ve decided killing close to a million Americans was worth owning the libs.

We could have figured out a lane between that of Australia/New Zealand and the 1mm death lane we’ve barreled down.

We should have done a brief pause, manufacture and distribute masks to all Americans (which was suggested and declined by the Trump administration) we should have spent resources on a fast, cheap and effective test and shipped them to everyone’s home. A $3 test was developed in the PacNW that was highly effective and took about 5 mins. These should have been sent out to every home/business, but Trump thought testing was dumb. We have this miracle vaxx and now that we have it you shouldn’t be able to participate in modern society without legit proof of vaccination.

Enough carrots, no more flying, no more sporting events, no more crossing across state lines without vaccination.

Looks like there will be less ICU beds... not necessarily because of more sick people. Because of less staff:

Biden will require vaccines at any health facility that gets government funding. That's nearly all of them.
            • The White House has announced a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for healthcare facilities that get federal funding.
            • More than 17,000 employees at hospitals that require Medicare or Medicaid funding will have to be vaccinated.
            • The move is part of President Biden's larger plan to stop the spread of COVID-19.
            [...]

Many will still refuse and will be fired or will resign.

How much of the current ICU bed shortage is due to the lack of staff?

But, but, but... president elect Joe Biden said he wouldn't require vaccine mandates:

Joe wouldn't lie to us, right?

remember when Biden said, "I wouldn't demand it [making the vaccine] to be mandatory"? The internet does:

So why is this a dumbass question?

To be fair, no one is required to get vaccinated. It’s only people that work for medium to large companies. And even then it’s not required because companies can just test weekly.

i am looking forward to the social media outrage from the redhatters on this one. Gonna be fun!

Anti-vaxxers can go to hell. Your civil liberties don't give you the right to recklessly infect your neighbor with a deadly disease any more than give you the right to smack them in the head with a baseball bat.

I get the reasons why conservatives are up in arms. But does this outrage really sell beyond GOP voters anymore? I would guess that the majority of younger voters have no problem with this.
