On the other hand if we keep going at 500 per day average it would take 16 years to infect all 3 million Utahns. Are we all supposed to “be careful” for the next 16 years?
But it doesn't spread in a linear fashion like that. It is exponential. But no doubt you know that.

It makes sense that we should "be careful" until we find effective treatments and a vaccine. Or we find that the COVID somehow becomes less lethal. mrs. myboynoah was reading an article about an Italian doctor who says it has mutated into being less lethal. Maybe there's something to that.

The rally goer is correct. One side plays it one way and the Trump side plays it the other.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Sure but the goal of social distancing is to prevent exponential spread, transform it into linear spread.

I’m of course in favor of wearing masks, no large gatherings, etc but there are a lot of ways to die and COVID is still just one of those ways. People are dying all the time and there is no doubt that for a lot of people fear of this thing is outpacing reality.

Maybe not the best example because the Assyrians in fact came.

The good news is that they should be over it by time college starts back up. They might have to cut back on the vaping, however, with their reduced lung ability.

Yeah, it’s no surprise that an large increase in cases just happens to be at the tail end of mass protests. Not surprising at all it’s young kids who are getting sick. They wore masks for the most part but when it’s 95 degrees out and humid as a sauna they tend to not wear those masks all the time.

Yeah, they only wore the masks when rioting.

and the fact that masks are largely ineffective. and before anybody jumps all over me, i'm a proponent of masks indoors and when in close quarters with others. even if they help just a little, i'm willing to wear them. but the fact is, they do only help a little. even if those youngsters kept their masks on the entire time, there was a lot of virus spreading going on.

Yep. If your mask fogs up your glasses, it also is allowing water droplets and virus to go airborn. It just helps lessen the amounts. Most of the masks help a little but most people aren’t wearing them correctly anyway. And they certainly are not a golden ticket to not infecting people.
