• The Wrestling community is a very tight group and its brotherhood crosses oceans and political ideologies. The U.S. has always been welcomed with roses upon arrival in Iran and treated with much respect.

Word of several rising stars in the Iranian wrestling community have been killed and to be executed. What they are doing to their own people will have lasting impacts on many levels. Generational families will be impacted.

Two Iranian Wrestlers, Two Devastating Stories.

Fallahpour, a 19-year-old wrestler, was reportedly killed by security forces during protests in the southwestern Iranian city of Andimeshk, according to Iran International. Fallahpour was participating in demonstrations against injustice when he lost his life. His death is being mourned by friends, family, and communities who knew him as an athlete and a young man with a future.

Meanwhile, Saleh Mohammadi, another 19-year-old wrestling standout, is reported to have been transferred to solitary confinement in Qom amid protest-related charges. Earlier reports raised urgent concerns that he could face execution, though recent updates indicate a change in status. Details remain difficult to verify independently.
According to multiple reports, Alireza Nejati- an Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler, Tokyo 2020 Olympian at 60kg, and a 2019 World Bronze Medalist at the same weight- has been abducted by Iran’s security forces for supporting the Iranian people’s protests. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

    • Shahab Fallahpour, a 19-year-old wrestler reportedly killed during the protests

    • Saleh Mohammadi, a teenage wrestling star facing life imprisonment and possible execution

    • Families being threatened into silence for speaking to the media

Now it’s an Olympian. A world medalist.

Iranian fans once welcomed international wrestlers with roses, flowers, chants, and respect. They celebrated wrestling as a bridge between people. Today, Iranian wrestlers themselves are being disappeared for using their voices.

      • Another Olympian for Iran has gone missing and presumed dead.. The regime is decimating their entire Olympic Wrestljg program

One of Alireza Nejati’s final social media posts (translated) on January 5th, 2026 before he was reportedly beaten and abducted by Iranian security forces.

Nejati is not just any athlete.
He is a 2019 World Bronze Medalist and a Tokyo 2020 Olympian in Greco-Roman wrestling at 60kg.

In these words, he spoke openly about refusing to stay silent in the face of oppression- even when it cost him isolation, punishment, and danger. He wrote about choosing conscience over comfort. About fighting beyond the mat.

According to multiple reports, after publicly supporting Iran’s protests, Nejati was taken by security forces. His whereabouts remain unknown. He has not been seen or heard from since

I'm guessing that Iran's Olympic wresting team is not currently high on the priority list of the regime.

Wrestling is by far one of their more successful athletic programs. They are treated like celebrities. They reception they give to opposing countries is a testament to their love of wrestling.

It is heartbreaking to see how little they care.

              • Good news! If they abide by it..

State Department demands Iran halt execution of 19-year-old wrestling star

Iran is seeking to execute a decorated Iranian wrestler for merely peacefully protesting against the regime in early January, prompting the U.S. State Department on Wednesday to demand that Tehran overturn the death penalty for 19-year-old Saleh Mohammadi.

Wrestling is a national pastime in Iran and a sport liked by President Donald Trump, who sought to save the life of champion Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Navid Afkariin 2020. The clerical regime in Iran executed Afkari for his 2018 role in a demonstration against the economic and political corruption of the theocratic state.

                • With everything going on and what has been dumped into the news today.. I am going to venture to guess we can expect bombs to drop on Iran this weekend if not this evening.

                  Wonder what the odds are.

                      • NY Post stating over 30-Iranian athletes have been killed.

On Jan. 9, the same day that Nejati was arrested, security forces killed Shahab Fallahpour, a 19-year-old wrestler, during street protests in the southwestern city of Andimeshk, according to Iran International.

The news service quoted sources who said that he was targeted by a sniper from a rooftop. Fallahpour’s remains were buried three days later in the early hours of January 12 at about 4 a.m. There was no funeral service and only his parents attended “under the supervision of government forces,” the report stated.

Another rising wrestling star, Yashar Soltanirad, 26, was gunned down during protests in Tehran on Jan. 9, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights. The group also reported that Majid Jalilian, a 39-year-old CrossFit athlete and father of a young child, was severely beaten by security forces and shot dead in Tehran on the same day.

Saleh Mohammadi, a 19-year-old rising wrestling star from Qom, was arrested by security forces on Jan. 15 and now faces execution, according to Iran International and social media posts.

On Wednesday, Babak Shadgan, a physician who heads up United World Wrestling’s (UWW) medical commission, called on Iran to release Nejati, according to Iran International. The group is the international governing body for amateur wrestling. He told The Post that his post reflects “my personal views as a sports physician,” and not an official view of the UWW.

“In less than 10 days, the Iranian regime shot dead more than 30 athletes across the country,” Saradar Pashaei, a former coach of Iran’s Greco-Roman wrestling team and himself a world champion wrestler, told The Post.

“The youngest was just 15 years old. The victims included young athletes, national champions, coaches, and international referees … Every single one of them was killed by gunfire.”

                        • US military shoots down Iranian drone approaching USS Abraham Lincoln in Arabian Sea, official says

The U.S. military shot down an unmanned Iranian drone Tuesday after it "aggressively approached a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier with unclear intent," a U.S. Central Command spokesman told Fox News.

"USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) was transiting the Arabian Sea approximately 500 miles from Iran’s southern coast when an Iranian Shahed-139 drone unnecessarily maneuvered toward the ship," the spokesman added.

Could this be for several reason including if they attack Iran?

U.S. urges ships to stay ‘as far as possible’ from Iran’s waters in Strait of Hormuz after boarding attempts

In a notice issued Monday, the U.S. Maritime Administration said ship captains should decline permission for Iranian forces to board U.S. vessels.

Boarding attempts, including moves to force commercial vessels into Iranian waters through small boats and helicopters, have occurred as recently as Feb. 3, the agency under the Department of Transportation said.

Should Iranian forces board a U.S.-flagged commercial vessel, crews were advised not to “forcibly resist the boarding party,” the notice said. It added that refraining from forcible resistance does not imply consent or agreement to that boarding.

The advisory recommended that ships transiting eastbound in the Strait of Hormuz stay close to the Omani side of the waterway.

The guidance followed a round of indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran held in Oman on Friday, centered on how to approach discussions over Tehran’s nuclear program. The meeting marked the first talks between the two countries since U.S. bombers struck three Iranian nuclear sites during a 12-day war with Iran last June.

Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, described the talks as “a step forward,” while signaling they would be the opening stage of a longer diplomatic process rather than a path to a quick resolution. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also told state media that the talks were a “good start.”

President Donald Trump said the Oman talks were “very good” and that more sessions were planned, even as he warned Iran that failure to reach a deal would carry “very steep” consequences for Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet Trump in Washington on Wednesday to discuss the U.S.-Iran talks. Israel, a close U.S. ally, has lobbied Washington to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program, curb its ballistic missile program and end its support for militant groups in the region.

                            • Netanyahu rushes to Washington for talks with Trump over Iran

The Israeli prime minister requested his visit be brought forward to Wednesday to try to stiffen the US president’s resolve in negotiations with Tehran
Before boarding his flight, Netanyahu said he would “present to the president our approach around our principles on the negotiations”, adding that this was important not only for Israel, but for every country around the world “that wants peace and security”.

Trump has assembled a large US fleet within striking distance of Iran but has softened his tone in recent days, leading Iranian anti-regime campaigners to feel this is an occasion when the acronym Taco — “Trump Always Chickens Out” — applies.

Originally coined to describe Trump’s retreat from high trade tariffs last year, his threat of dire consequences for Iran’s leadership for killing opponents has not materialised, and the momentum of January’s street protests seems lost.
