I am to the point where I don't watch the news. Any news. It all affects me, but there is nothing I can do about it so I don't focus on it. I get most of my news here on CUF.
People are wrapped up in it, letting it ruin their lives, and then it becomes their identity. I have zero interest in that.Comment

I have no problem with you finding my reason absurd. I addressed it above. You will probably also find it absurd that I think the No Kings rallies are ridiculous. Trump is doing what he was elected to do. Staging a rally with a false premise isn't going to help the situation. The opposition needs to find a way to beat him at the ballot box. As it stands, the lefty rallies are the modern-day equivalent of crying wolf. The people they are trying to convince find these things whiny, repetitive, and tiresome. Freedom to protest is guaranteed, but the left never asks itself whether or not the rallies are actually effective. Instead, they do what they have always done, and fire up another rally. Shaka is depressingly right. The democratic national party is in shambles. And GOP voters cannot see past the next 4 years. But there will be inevitable repercussions. Right now the deal the GOP is making with the devil seems like it will pay off, since Trump et al has fought all their important battles and the electoral map is favorable to them. But the damage is done. The next democratic president will play to a base that will want quick socialist action. Since apparently it's OK to cancel congress's part in the constitution no one should be surprised when they will rescind funding to red states and retool universities with woke. Not to mention 'lawfare' (such a bullshit accusation in the face of what Trump has done). You don't think in this decayed state a democrat will know how to play to an even more polarized base?
America was a great ideal. Never achieved but certainly many strove for it. What exactly are we striving for now, anyways? We are likely witnessing the inevitability of most countries throughout history. 250 years is a very long time for any country to stay together. Trump wasn't the cause of the decline, but he certainly accelerated it.
