She's been a big hit with Russian media and used their talking points in the early days of the Ukraine invasion. One would want a smart, analytical, and dispassionate person serving as Director of National Intelligence. She is not such a person.

These are such nothingburgers. Trump got played by the Japanese. "Sure, go ahead and try to sell your larger, left-hand drive cars in our market. And your crappy rice as well. Good luck!" And those investment numbers are just fluff. There is no way to enforce that. But Japanese firms, as the largest foreign investors in the U.S., will continue to expand as part of their regular business. I saw where people said at the last minute Trump insisted that the investment numbers be upped another $100 million. No doubt the Japanese agreed without a problem because it's all so meaningless and long term in nature.

This is like the Korea deal negotiated a few years back. So much was made of concessions on U.S. autos, but reality was and is that even now we don't fulfill the non-tariff quota the Koreans gave us. And if the goal is to decrease the deficit (don't understand the fixation, but whatever) sales of U.S. cars would be like a fly speck on the surface of the trade deficit sun.
