    Y'all just don't get it.

Being a fan of CB pancakes, this is a win.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

    • I ate at cracker barrel once. Extremely underwhelming food for the price. I boycotted them before it was MAGA cool, but only because I thought they sucked

The new logo for the Southern-themed restaurant chain has been blasted by Trump’s MAGA base claiming the design is “woke” and “boring.”

Its noteworthy how MAGA yanked the woke mallet away from the progressives started hammering back. Republicans once feared the woke mob would condemn them on twitter. Now they call woke anything they dislike, even the dumbest shit ever like the cracker barrel logo redesign.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

        • Underperforming company rebrands. I'm not sure what the hubub is about except they might be making it worse. Maybe they are attempting the New Coke strategy.

I like some of their breakfast food.

My impression is that CB looks over the horizon is sees that its regular customer base is dying, literally dying out. It needs to appeal to the next generation. I thought I saw a report where they have rebranded and even redecorated 3-4 restaurants as a pilot and the feedback has been very good. That seems to be playing into this new logo. Nothing about "Whoa, let's get rid of the old white guy and barrel because it seems racist." More like, "Let's get rid of the old white guy and barrel because it brands us as a place for old people and younger folks are giving a pass and will continue to do so if we don't do something about it." Who knows if it will work or not.

Yes, I like the pancakes and other breakfast foods. So if James Woods is boycotting, then great.

            • At a couple of my military courses at Fort Lee, we would have our mentoring sessions with the senior warrants at Cracker Barrel. The breakfasts were much better than the dinners.

You are right. They should just ride it out. This is one of the dumbest controversies ever.

                • The Cracker Barrel in Bend lasted 2 years then went out of business. This was way before the woke mob got its hands on the logo. And after taking my kids there once even when they had less discerning tastes, we figured out why they went out of business.

I don't think it's quite that dire for CougarBoard.

My jury is out on this move but my mind is open as well. It will be interesting to see if this will incentivize Intel to manufacture more in the USA. Just like I think the Cracker Barrel rebranding is NBD, I also think this move is NBD.

Help us understand why the government needs to own a significant share in a major US company.

Can you imagine the blowback if a democratic president was doing this?

Money has already changed hands, with more to come. Also, the stock has voting rights but the government has to vote as a board majority directs, with certain exceptions. Under federal securities laws, even a 10% interest can be deemed to ba a controlling interest. The CHIPS Act authorized the grant of vast amounts of money to U.S. chipmakers and Intel's share of that is a little less than $10 Billion, of which $2 Bn has already been paid. Trump changed the deal Congress had authorized by demanding (and getting) a 10% stake of Intel, along with warrants that entitle the U.S. to pick up 5% more. One can argue that Trump changed a giveaway (which the federal government does countless times) into a nice deal for the U.S. taxpayer, and superficially, that's correct. But having the White House meddling in corporate governance is not at all a good thing from a free market perspective. Trump had called for CEO Lip-Bu Tan''s resignation because of an alleged conflict of interest, but withdrew the demand as part of the investment scheme. Name drop: I worked with Lip Bu 40 years ago when he was a VC--nice guy and wicked smart.

And please, everyone, drop the last "e" from Newsom.

Maybe no cash changed hands, but there was definitely a transaction. Why would Intel just give 10% equity in their company to the government? That equity is worth over $11 Billion. What did the government give as their part of the transaction? Subsidies? Tax breaks? Tariff relief? Influence?

what is it called when the government gets into private business, competing with other private businesses? What did people call it when Madmani suggested government grocery stores?
