Trump's approval and positive image as a public figure was at it's highest in the mid 80's, when the Cold War was still silently raging, the Berlin Wall still stood, and the Soviet Union was a world power and America's prime military foe. I've come to the conclusion that Trump is nostalgic for those days--days when he was perceived by the public as rich, handsome(ish) and affable.
